When my daughter was about 7 years old she asked me a question. I said I didn't know the answer. She put her hands on her hips, and rather indignantly stated "Well! You don't know much of anything, do you!"

several times - ha ha

One day I got up, got my shower, put on a nice outfit and makeup. I walked out into the living room and my 3 year old JUMPED up and asked, "ooooo, where are we going Mommy?" I said nowhere and he was all dissapointed and said something like, "I thought you had on your outside face". I laughed so hard and then realized I needed to make more of an effort.

Then a few years later I lost a bunch of weight and one of my little girls was hugging me and she said, "now hugging you is sad" I said, "why"? She said, " all your cuddlies are gone." So sweet.

And the last one I will bore you with just happened. My oldest was asking our 25 month old different animal sounds like: how does the pig go? - and the 2 year old said oink oink. etc etc. Then for some reason my oldest son decided to ask "how does Mommy go?" and the 2 yr old said in a stern tone "NOW!".

oh dear, talk about being convicted by your children :-)

Thanks for the memories :-)

I'm sure I've been insulted plenty of times but I just laugh it off. My boy is five years and he says a lot of "not so nice" things to people on accident. I always correct him though and rarely does he make the same mistake twice.

The most embarrassing time was when we were at my parents house staying after Christmas. My parents get more practical gifts--not so much toys but clothes and socks. He opened his last gift and said with a very disappointed look on his face [almost mad about it] "Not more clothes!!!" I could have chocked! He went to his room and thought for a long time about that one.

The truth is; kids will say things without thinking. You daughter meant what she said. My boy meant what he said it's just we have to teach them NOT to say things. I love kid's honesty but then again it works my nerves at times!

I dont have kids yet but i insult my mom all the time without meaning, she doesnt let me live it down, but you know, 7 year olds are probably showing off all the time these days she either isnt disciplined or picked it up from school (dont just take it?!) i did that once and i got yelled at and the silent treatmeant. i now know to NEVER insult my mom ever. If she does it again do things like looking at her in a way that makes her feel guilty.

She didnt know any better how to say "youre older and more experienced, you dont know the answer?" Youre her resource of info. that she asks things to learn. Its like you looked on the net for info and it said to you " i dont know".

It's a matter of how you word it next time instead of saying I don't know. As a teacher, if I get caught with something I am not sure about, I tell my students "That's a very good question, we should research that later." We go look it up and everyone is happy.

She must have heard it somewhere. My daughter is only 3 yrs 4mo but remembers everything I say. Once I was very mad at my husband and I said a bad word. I didn't even know she remembered it and for sure I knew she wouldn't understand it because at home we speak English but we speak other languages with her, so next time we had a fight, she just repeated the same word with the same intonation and I was really ashamed of myself. So careful with your tongue in front of the little ones.

I play a multiplayer computer game with my kids and last night, our youngest kept saying - MOM is beating you! Ohmygod you're losing to Mom!

When I was a teen, at a large family gathering, my parents told the relatives they wanted to work on a cruise ship when retired, mom would be a maid. I said, "A MAID? Whey on earth would you want to be a maid?" I went on and on like this and started noticing I was getting kicked under the table. My grandmother, extraordinary hostess, was a maid. (When I went to college, I worked as a maid and wished she could've known.)

Everyday my Son does....She is testing her boundaries. Tell her no matter what you love her. Have a laugh about it later when shes not looking. She is just trying to become her own person.
