Why man relay on religion to kill his kind. Catholic kill Protestants and vice versa,Moslems kill their own people, because they are from a different sect. Jews kill Moslems and vice versa. Why do we need an excuse to destroy our own species.

Religion isn't the source of all evil, but it contributes more than its share.

When asked to give a one line summary of Judaism, Hillel (a great sage end of first century BCE to beginning of first century CE) replied "ve'ahavta lere'akha kemokha' - 'love your neighbour as you love yourself', the rest is commentary". I am not saying Judaism is the only religion whose founding principle is mutual respect and love. This is true for all religions and it is merely the misinterpretations by manipulative and evil leaders (Abu Hamza springs to mind) coupled with the socioeconomic conditions of any given society which leads to leads to wars and hate 'based upon religion'. Quite simply, there is no such thing. Although you can be forgiven, in today's world, for thinking that religion is the source of all evil, if you really think about it it should become blindingly obvious that the religions themselves are not the bases of the evil which emerges. Were the Crusades based on true Christianity?? No, of course not. Is Al Qaeda's 'war on the western world' based on true Islam?? No. At the end of the day, the wars which arise from religion are, in essence, a clash of cultures. As has been mentioned in other answers, if there were no religion there would no doubt be war, hate and evil in the world, I would venture to say much more than what there is now. The greatest monstrosities known to mankind have been perpetrated by atheists, and I cannot stress enough that hate only emerges from religion when the religion itself is skewed and twisted to mean what it doesn't mean. The zealots who claim that suicide bombings are a righteous task and in line with their religion are, quite simply wrong. And after they've destroyed their own lives and those around them, they'll be heading plummeting away from that bright light they expect to see. Also, it is also worthwhile to think about how it is very easy to calculate how much evil has come out of religion, it is infinitely more difficult to put a figure on how much good has come from it. Whatever your problems with religion may be, it is an absurd statement to say it is the root of all evil.

>>>Catholic kill Protestants and vice versa>>>

Where? The overwhelmingly vast majority of Catholics and Protestants live in perfect peace with each other.

Please stop pushing the stereotype that Catholics and Protestants are killing each other all over the place. It's just not true.

Far more people have killed, and have been killed, over political differences than all other reasons put together. Does that mean that political beliefs are the sources of all evil?

Man is the source of evil and hate. Man wrote the Bible, the Quran or what ever book a religious sect follows and it's Man that does the killing in the name of what ever religion. In my years on this planet I have not seen or heard a God of what ever belief stand on this planet in any shape or form and tell somebody to kill in it's name. I've seen thousands of men/women kill others and they all do it in the name of their invisible force. Until religion of any form is banished then the killings will go on. I don't foresee Christ, Mohamed, Buddha, Shiva or any other religious icon walking on this earth and saying "we were right and your religion was wrong". It's all man made and it will go on until the end of time.

Just as the old saying 'Money is the root of all evil' should begin: 'Abuse of ...', so it should be with your statement. At its best religion can be a great source of good, as with Christian Aid for example. Unfortunately it seems to be part of man's nature to suspect, fear, and even hate anyone from another group - be it religion, nationality, or even football team supporter! Peace and love to all, whatever your beliefs.

Religion is not the source of evil, but it definately fans the flames. Religious hypocracy is the reason for the hate crimes pursued in religions name.

The source of evil are the religious leaders and the sheep that keep them in power.

DUDE!!! i'm a christian and i think you're right
Religion = following a set of rules
in fact...christianity technically isn't a religion because we're not under a set of rules but instead we claim to know Jesus and it's in knowing him and believing in him that we actually go to heaven

RIGHT ON
religion = death
and there's no room for God in religion

Because religion is mind control. These people are under the control. Of course, they would completely deny it. Whether anyone likes it or not, religion kills people. Best advice, -don't have a religion.

Religion is not a source of evil. Man is. Better to say Mind is!
This is why it is said that he is a beast and his number is 666.
Each 6 represent material, emotional and mental body. In fact all tree are made by mind itself.
Body, feelings, discrimination, etc.... are all mind made. The truth lies behind it.
