natural yogurt or creme fraiche, but bear in mind if you boil them they will split, so either add them at the very end after the pan is off the heat, or try a non-dairy sudstitute like soya cream

Nothing really tastes like cream does it? Unfortunately! I think the only thing to do is to try out your favourite recipes and put different things in them to see whats best. I have a gorgeous brocolli and cheese soup recipe which requires cream, and as it is high fat already with the cheese i just tried leaving the cream out and it tastes exactly the same! You could try putting in half the quantity and see what the recipe is like. Or there are all the usual things to try - yogurt, creme fraiche etc. There is a 0% fat greek yogurt called Total. You can get it from Tesco if you are in the UK.

Whenever I come across a recipe asking for any type of cream I just leave it out and do NOT replace it with anything. If anything the meals are healthier WITHOUT cream and taste much better.

I use plain low fat yoghurt. Any plain yoghurt will be fine, depending on how 'low fat' you need.
