How can anyone in their sane mind condone a sexual relationship with a child? Or even try and "justify" it?

According to many Muslim "excuses", child-molestation was such a "common" practice during that time, that it was "OK" for Muhammad to "practice" it too. A 9-year-old is "old" enough to deflower??? How sick.

nozi: Who cares about anything else he did. You can throw all his other "accomplishments" out the window, ...he molested a child! HELLO???? Why is a child molester being "praised"?

Adia Arek: You must have a huge kiddie porn collection, for you to even "condone" Muhammad's sexual-relation with a child. You know the old saying, "Birds of a feather stick together...."

the simple reason is that most patriacies imagine women to be chattel including christianity.

if you read the omar khyam ( persian ) you might note that going to heaven means countless women to deflower and pretty young boys too

but look what far-too-many catholic priests have done to their alter boys

p.s.: did you know the last time the catholic church castrated young choir boys ( the castrati ) to retain their " angelic " voices for the papal choir was 1938 ?

and are their small testicles still in a jar in the very secret archives of the vatican ?

all religions suck

and there is no god

Aisha was betrothed around the age of 6 but was not married until around the page of 9, when the marriage of consummated. A marriage without sex was not considered a real marriage. It would have been culturally appropriate to have sex with her upon marriage. People used to get married much younger than now. Aisha's marriage was an arranged marriage, which was also not uncommon. Children were often used as bargaining chips of sorts, with marriages sealing contracts between families. So while the behavior may offend our sensibilities, it would have been accepted as normal at the time. Just because something was aceptable in the time of Muhammad (or Jesus, or Moses, or whoever), does not make it acceptable now. Culture changes. Long-term jails are a modern invention, for example. In the past criminals were generally fined, mutilated, exiled, or executed. It was acceptable then, but that doesn't mean its a good idea to go back to chopping off the hand of a child stealing bread, for example. Threatening to destroy countries over pictures of Muhammad is the voice of extremists. There is no agreed upon rule concerning depicting Muhammad. There are many illustrations of Muhammad in existance produced in the Middle East. Most Shia do not object to the depiction of Muhammad, as long as it is respectful. Sunnis more often object, but some Sunnis object to the realistic depiction of ANY creation of Allah's, because we cannot possibly recreate what Allah has already done.

I HOPE THAT THE ABOVE LINK ASWERS YOUR QUESTION, Many people have been misinformed regarding this particular subject , in actuality Ayesha (RA) was between the ages 16-20 when she married our Holy prophet (pbuh). Instead of making incorrect comments & posting something that is completely untrue - do your research. The prophet (SAW) was a man of pure character he would have never done anything morally wrong. To imply that he molested a child really makes me angry because he was a man with such high values , His character was so pure, no other man on earth could have such a flawless character. I really hope people can stop criticising him because no muslim has anything bad to say about the Prophets of christianity & judiasm , infact Islam is thee only religion that loves & respects all the prophets. Give Muhammed (saw) the same respect we give all thee other prophets (pbuh)

It is people like you that are gullible , you listen to the media & think what they say is true , well you need to really do serious research before making a statement & you need facts to prove your statement. Dont discredit a man that was honourable because you read or watch something some where. Its really sad that people are easily influenced by wrong information given to them.

NEHA - Historians have proven that Ayesha (RA) was not 9 when she married the prophet, so now you have scientific proof that she was between the ages 16 -20.

Some people's culture its other people's taboo. Is it consider molest if its ur wife? In fact, the old Arab culture permits it as long as the girl reached her puberty and able to decide. We are living in an era which does not allows it to happen. In fact,if you read about her and sayings, she's too matured for 12 years old girls in this era. Look around u and open ur eyes, there's a lot of other people's culture that we sometimes don't find it comfortable to see.

Prophet Muhammad himself from age 24 to 50 was married to only one woman, Khadija can this man think of what the non muslims think about him now no one of the arab disbelievers blamed the final prophet for this marrige u know why because it was not strange at this time to marry the women 20 or 30 years younger than the man secondely all over the world the people were growing up more than our time now so the women in 9 or 14 (most writers said she was about 14 )at that time like 25 years old now finaly he married that young girl because she was very fast in learning so she can teach the world about his life after his death and that what happend she told us about his great life in detalis Aeisha, became renowned as a scholar and one of the greatest sources of Hadith literature.

All his wives – except Al Sayeda Aisha – were either widows or divorced , and most of them were elderly women, he could have chosen beautiful girls if he wanted. Any man would profer a birgin to a widow or a divorcee. His marriage to widows and divorcees and to elderly in particular shows that the prophet was not after sexual pleasure as said by his adversaries.

God is the one who put the rules not human.

1st, not everything is about sex
2nd, this woman that you talk about was more as a student than a wife, she is the 1st scholar woman in Islam. after Muhammad death she recorded almost 25% of his teaching and wisdom, she helped to carry this religion to the next generation. After Muhammad death there must be some close people to the prophet to remain for the next generation. Muhammad was a shy man, he couldn't answer all women personal questions so he used to give them to Ayisha. scholaras, people and especially women gathered around this woman to listen to her wisdom and teaching. and if it was a big deal back then , then the enemy of Muhammad will talk about it day and night.

This question has been answered many times by Muslims and either you have refused to read their answers or you have refused to acknowledge that things were different in the time when this happened. Do your homework, will you? Lots of things happened in the past in the name of religion that we would never tolerate today. And if you didn't notice, those things don't happen anymore, or if they do, people are punished.

Please let go of your hatred towards Muslims, and any other religion you feel like attacking. It is not your right to judge others. Peace.

And may I ask you why you insist on insulting Moslem's prophet?Mohammad had lived about 1428 years before, they had some traditions, that as you said was common for those time. But Moslem's mistake is that they use that old relgion for making power, and making today laws.
And I have heard that a 9 year old Arab girls was such a grown up as an 18 years old girl.

I hate to sound like it was okay (because I don't think it is), but 9-year-olds were married off in Christian Europe during that same point in history. The death toll was so high that they wanted girls to start having babies as early as possible (and yes, it is possible to be fertile at the age of 9). So Mohammed wasn't doing anything unusual at the time.

Edit: The age of adulthood comes when a person is old enough to take upon themselves the adult duties of their society. For boys, the earliest tends to be 13 or 14, but the earliest age of adulthood for girls has always been when they first show signs of puberty.
