Urine contains many salts. When the salt concentration in urine is saturated by increased intake or by decreased water content in urine they start sedimenting and subsequently become stones. To quote few such salts are, calcium, oxalate, uric acid, phosphate, etc.
To precent stone formation, take plenty of oral fluid and reduce dietary intake of food rich in above salts such as tomato, tea, juicy fruits, mutton, egg yellow, cabbage & milk products. Take more citrate (Potassium citrate) solution.

For all types of stones increasing water and fluid consumption is a primary component of treatment to increase urine volume. By increasing the volume of urine, it becomes more dilute. Salt crystals (i.e. calcium oxalate, calcium phosphate, uric acid and cystine) are less likely to form/precipitate in a large volume, dilute urine. It's the same concept as pooring table salt into water. The more water, the more salt it can hold without salt crystals forming.

The stones are a build up of calcium - you should drink plenty of water and cranberry juice - not the cocktail kind - but pure cranberry juice.
