It's a protection instinct or they are comfortable.
I have noticed most cats keep their tales close to them when they sleep.

Cats typically curl their tails up to protect it. They're more vulnerable while they're asleep, so they want to be as safe as possible.

I think it just means they are comfortable all cats do this.
