Look at these selected lyrics and tell me what you think, or if you've ever heard it mentioned elsewhere, e.g. interview etc.:

Sometimes I feel the fear of
uncertainty stinging clear
and I can't help but ask myself
how much I'll let the fear take the wheel and steer

It's driven me before, it seems to have a vague
haunting mass appeal
lately I'm beginning to find that I
should be the one behind the wheel...

...So if I decide to waiver my
chance to be one of the hive
will I choose water over wine
and hold my own and drive, oh oh...

...It's driven me before, it seems to be the way
that everyone else get around
lately I'm beginning to find that when I drive myself
my light is found

Would you choose water over wine
hold the wheel and drive

I have always thought that it was. The lyrics certainly seem to support that. I have not heard any interviews from them on the subject, but I am not one who is an entertainment junkie. I like Incubus a lot. I wonder if they take a lot of s*** over their name from fundementalists?

well being that this song came out when I was in high school I always thought that it was referring to peer pressure. but that's just me. I believe a songs meaning is what it means to each individual. Also their name does freak me out and I don't listen to their music anymore because if it. (except this particular song because I like it.)

I also know their name is a demon that comes to a person in their sleep and has sex with them, why they called themselves by that demon, I will never know.
