Photosynthesis (photo=light, synthesis=putting together), generally, is the synthesis of sugar from light, carbon dioxide and water, with oxygen as a waste product.
It is arguably the most important biochemical pathway known; nearly all life depends on it. It is an extremely complex process, comprised of many coordinated biochemical reactions. It occurs in higher plants, algae, some bacteria, and some protists, organisms collectively referred to as photoautotrophs.
It occurs in the presence of light / Sunlight ONLY.
Photosynthesis uses the energy of light to make the sugar, glucose. A simple general equation for photosynthesis follows.
6 CO2 + 6 H2O + photons → C6H12O6 + 6 O2
carbon dioxide + water + light energy → glucose + oxygen
Photosynthesis occurs in two stages.
In the first phase light-dependent reactions or photosynthetic reactions (also called the Light reactions) capture the energy of light and use it to make high-energy molecules.
During the second phase, the light-independent reactions (also called the Calvin-Benson Cycle, and formerly known as the Dark Reactions) use the high-energy molecules to capture carbon dioxide (CO2) and make the precursors of glucose.

Plants do not perform photosynthesis at night because there is no light and they need light energy to do this. But they do perform cellular respiration at night. All living things perform cellular respiration 24/7.
As far as photosynthesis goes... that only happens in the daytime when there is light.

No, because it needs light to do photosynthesis. However, plants do perform cellular respiration at night as well as in daylight.

Yes. Photosynthesis is a process that continues into the night. It does not take place "instantaneously".

yes its possible photosynthesis process at night if we have the ability to arrange the wave length that is equal from the sun which occurs to plants by using external resource.
