don't do it!!! you can get a grooming brush and brush him daily but don't try bathing her/him.

as you only got your kitten yesterday give it a bit of space and let it settle in and explore it's new environment x

eta. i recently found this website - it's really useful, has poisonous plants to cats, how much to feed your kitten, how to read their behaviour and generally informative stuff about looking after your cat.. have a look if you get chance http://www.moggies.co.uk/catguide/toc.html

Generally cats are able to do their own grooming, they don't need regular baths like dogs do unless they have a real problem with ticks/fleas.
Bathing your new kitten as soon as you get it is not a good idea. Cat's don't adapt to new situations and places as quickly as dogs or other animals might so the best thing you can do for your kitten is leave it alone. Don't try to do anything with it that is out of the ordinary just yet. Later on down the track it will be okay but i wouldn't recommend giving your kitten a bath at least for another month until it is well and truly settled into it's new home and is comfortable in it's surroundings.

hey, it is fine to give him a bath - just make sure the temperature is fine and that it is a nice sunny day so that once u have bathed him u can sit outside in the sun while u towel-dry him.
Cats are generally very clean but certain smells can stay in the fur. I bath my cats every cpl months, especially my youngest becuz he gets into everything and also plays with parktown prawns which leave a very neasty smell on the fur.
My one cat has an eye infection so it is 'weepy' quite often and what i do is take a cotton ball with warm water on it to keep it building up.

There is no need to give him a bath unless he has had an accident in his tray and is covered in cat poo! Even then I would simply wash it off of him in some warm water in the sink. My cats are both very clean girls and as above, have only needed to bathe in the sink in dire emergencies (they are long haired persians). It is however a good idea to get him used to being groomed, brushed, cleaning his eyes and nose etc- when needed and maybe once a week.

Hi there honey and good for you for giving a kitty a home! She does not need a bath so please do not traumatize her by bathing her! Unless she is very, very dirty! Even then I would use a hot wash cloth (well, very warm) and rub her all over with it. Keey re-wetting it with very warm water and wring it out well...no soap! Use cotton balls wrung out in hot water also for her eyes and ears. She will probably purr like crazy the whole time as it will remind her of her mommy. It will feel like her mommys tongue and she won't mind. Be sure to have her wrapped up in a warm towel as you go. If she has dirty ears she might have ear mites. You will need medicine for that. If her ears are full of lots of dark wax use a cotton swab dipped in warm baby oil. It will disolve the gunk and leave her ears pink and clean. Do not use too much oil, just enough to moisten the cotton swab.
Cats are very clean and she will spend lots of time grooming herself. Cats clean themselves after they eat so a dirty cat is a starving cat.
She will take care of her own bathing. No need to help.
Be sure that you have her spayed when it is time or neutered, guess you did not say it was a girl did you?
Good luck and write to me if I can be of any more help. My email address is on my profile.
Love and Blessings

Cats do not require frequent bathing and most of them don't like getting wet. Solution get the kitten professionally groomed. A professional knows how to bathe the kitten and has the right products to do it. Next up make sure you take your kitten to the vet before you bathe her to make sure she is healthy. Pet shop animals frequently come from places that are not really good for kittens and puppies and some are sick and it won't show up right away so make sure you have seen the vet.

I would not give your kitten a bath at any time. Kittens and cats are more than capable of cleaning themselves and this is much healthier for them. Let the kitten get used to you and get into its own cleaning routine

Don't give him a bath just yet, let him settle in before doing anythign that stressful in a new environment to him. Once he's used to the place, give him a bath in lukewarm water using shampoo that's for cats n kittens... Don't use anything too harsh because it'll dry out their skin. Also as already suggested trim the nails before the bath to reduce scratches.
Good Luck!

Yes you do that run a nice hot deep bath with bubbles and you get in it leave the kitten in it's basket why you do so cats are very clean and tend to themselves.

Not at such a young age!!!!!
Wait till it is at least 6 months old and then introduce it slowly to water. and make sure the water is warm not hot and definitely not cold. No bubble bath or any such stuff (not good for their skin). Good luck, I t might take a good couple baths before it will sit still for you. Remember not every cat likes water. My previous cat loved to bath, but not the ones I have now!!!

If you want to help your cat groom it's self, damp a flannel with warm water and wring it out so there are no drips then wipe the cat along the direction of it's fur then brush it. My cat loves this. It is suppose to be similar to being washed by his mum when he was a kitten.
Damp cotton wool is good for cleaning the corner of their eyes.
