Theory, hypothesis are used in non-technical contexts to mean an untested idea or opinion. A theory in technical use is a more or less verified or established explanation accounting for known facts or phenomena: the theory of relativity. A hypothesis is a conjecture put forth as a possible explanation of phenomena or relations, which serves as a basis of argument or experimentation to reach the truth: This idea is only a hypothesis.
Christianity doesn't even qualify as a hypothesis, unless you apply the "mere assumption or guess" definition. Most of its claims cannot be empirically tested, and those minor claims that have been tested have been proven false. It is a belief system, nothing more, where that which is not proven is accepted on "faith", which is "believing that which is not proven".
In other words, religion is the very antithesis of science.

Christianity is faith based religion at its best. I am a christian and I understand that many people do not choose to believe the Bible or God like I do. I dont believe in force feeding Christianity to anyone, you have a choice just like I had a choice to believe or not believe. But please remember that just because you choose not to believe it does not mean that God does not exist. He just doesnt exist to you but is very real to others. The basis of the Bible which forms the beliefs of Christianity was written over a period of about 4000 years by many different writers who were inspired by God as they recorded history and prophetical events of that time and even today that are still being fullfilled. The Bible is the best selling book of all time and it is also sold as a non-fiction book which ought to tell you a little about its validity. I dare say that anyone would contradict that the Civil War ever took place or that there is anyone alive to give an eyewitness account of what happened but it has been recorded as fact and placed in books and taught across the world as history. And we accept it, so what is wrong with accepting the things that are recorded in the Bible and accepting them because there is evidence to support its validity. Do your research and you will find out for yourself. Can I prove to you that God exist with concrete evidence such as fingerprints or a picture, no I cant, but can you prove that He is not God by Concrete evidence, no you cant. But you sure can enjoy all of His creation whether you believe in Him or not. Only thing is, one day if all I believe in is just a theory or hypothesis then I will have lost nothing because if there is no heaven then there is no hell, while on the other hand if Christianity is real then you who have chosen not to believe have lost everthing including your own soul.

A theory is a result of a hypothesis, so the question is a little confusing. Christianity (or religion in general) is technically a myth, for lack of better word, because there is no concrete evidence that God (or any higher being) exists. In terms of Christianity, the greatest evidence we have are the journals and writings of "Jesus's disciples" that date back to that era.
These writings detail the life of Jesus Christ through the eyes of various men, who became his followers. Christianity is based on these writings (which we know as the New Testament) so what it comes down to is that Christianity was based on testimonials from regular people, like you and I. How do we know they weren't crazy and fanatical? We don't...but that is why they call it "faith".
*An absolute AMAZING book to read is "Letters From a Skeptic" by Dr. Gregory Boyd. He explains all aspects of Christianity from a philosophical and scientific approach.

Christianity is neither based on theory or hypothesis. It is based on truth and the love of God. There have been too many archilogical finds for me to think otherwise.

A theory is something that seems to make sense, but cannot be proven. The existence of Christ can be proven outside of scriptures. A hypothesis is an educated guess. Christianity is neither a theory nor a hypothesis, it is a way of life.

You are using scientific descriptors to talk about religion which is not the wisest move. Christianity is based on written texts (the Bible) that outline presriptive guidelines on how we ought to live our lives (much like ethics philosophers lay down the same groundwork). The Bible has parables, symbolism, social science, political commentary, and poems too. So it kind of is its own multi-media center of 2,000 years ago.
Keep in mind that the bible was written by humans and there are NUMEROUS gospels that were not included in the Bible for various reasons. A decent chunk of people simply don't know or don't care that a giant chunk of 'the word" wasn't even included in the Bible. Were I religious, that might be slightly problamatic for me. So...Christianity is now really based on what people preach and interpret out of the Bible...neither of which cleave to the standard definitions of "theory" or "hypothesis."
Look up the words and see what you think.

If you look at the life of Christ (believer or not), you can either view him as a lunatic or you can believe his words. He preached that he was the Son of God and that eternal salvation only comes through him. Some may view Christ as any other religious leader that ever walked on this earth to carry his own agenda. The one major difference is the resurrection. Without the resurrection, Christianity becomes invalid, no heaven, no forgiveness, no eternal life. But what if Christ really did resurrect, what does that tell you? Is he really a lunatic, or is he really the Son of God?

Based on hypothesis because we need to prove facts stated in religious teachings of Christianity. It is not a philosophy though, because if we treat that way essence of love as dogma of Christianity will null and void.

It is based on a theory, but the theory is based on many hypotheses...
(By the way, a hypothesis IS a theory, a tentative theory, to be more exact.)

A pretty simple theory (given it has held for 2,000 yrs).
1. Render the Gnostic teachings of Jesus and the Nazarenes ineffective by producing a counter religion claiming to be the only true faith that focuses on simplistic symbolism, conformity and a hatred of knowledge.
2. Perpetuate the strength and credibility of canonical Jewish sacred texts created by Jeremiah, Baruch, Nehemiah and Ezra by incorporating these texts as a key part of the liturgy of the religion.
3. Destroy all texts, references to Gnosticism and any evidence to history that threatens objective 1 or 2.
4. Where is not possible to destroy, re-write the evidence that contradicts claims.
5. Usurp all members of Jesus’s family and disciples and where possible ensure their death.
6. Structure the church so that the House of Ananus, the former Jewish High Priests and its descendents along with other selected Sadducee Jewish families maintain effective control over the church and are able to continue satanic rituals and human sacrifice with impunity.
7. Curse every “sheep” that chooses to follow Christianity blindly unaware of the god they truly worship.
