i have a pioneer dvd player in my car. pioneer compos in the rear and extra tweeters in the front, with a sub-woofer in the boot. The problem is whatever way or settings i keep, somehow the vocals are too low to be heard over the bass and the shrill of the woofers and tweeters. what do i do to get good vocal sound also in standard settings of the headplayer?

An equalizer won't really help the problem, sounds to me like you don't have a crossover, to send the bass tones to the subs. The problem with this system, in such a small area, is the fact that lower voices will more than likely come from the sub... Therefore, I'd come up with some way to bypass the sub when using this system.

a separate amp to your highs and mids will give you your desired sound. also a good crossover would do it like an audio control or something along that line. first, go to the stereo or electronics store nearest you and get speaker capacitors. they cost a few bucks each and go directly onto the wires of your highs to make sure that no bass comes through them. good economical way to start.

an amp on your speakers would work very well. that way you can adjust your volume on all your amps to put your mids (voices) louder. you can also adjust what freq goes to your speakers so they wont get those low notes, your subs will pick those up. it might also be a good idea to adjust your sub amp's freq down.

just take it to a good soundshop and they'll fix it in no time. a amp is also a good idea, but i would think ur using one already if u dont want to kill ur headunit
