why we are moving away from our own culture
in many big cities in India i have seen girls and boys laugh at others if som of their friends says hello in hindi .Why do they think it is cheap?i can see girl avoiding indian clothes.
ARE WE LOSING OUR ORIGINALITY?

This is because of Deep Western Influence on them. They feels that Westren culture is the most developed culture and by coping there styles they will give others their fake impressions.

Laughing at someone for his language is an immature act for sure. But based on that you cannot conclude that we are losing our culture.

Indian culture accepts everything still maintaining it's own ethics. Wherever a persons foot touches the other person he would gesture for apology, We call elder ladies 'auntiji' (see how we blend things), we go to a 5 star hotel - eat continental dishes but love 'pan' as a desert, etc. etc.

I've seen Indian girls and boys touching the feet of their elders in public without being embarassed. the ethics are still within ourselves. you can learn a foreign language, learn a friegn tradition, but you cannot ignore this very unique culture...

And for that pretty girl 'nv' who believes that it's a shame cos we stand out because of our clothess and tradition - Dear 'nv' tell me why the person going to sunday schoiol is considered as a decent person while the person giong to temple is superstitious? Why wearing a cross is cool while wearing an 'Om' is primitive? Why saying hello is cool, while saying namaste is symbol if illiteracy? Why those westerns can have six kids in a row, while Indians are considered sex animals with just 3 kids? Why 'Bible' is holy while 'Ramayan' and 'Mahabharata' are fictions?

There are a lot of such why's. And I'm sure you won't be able to answer them. It's a shame that you don't respect the culture just because there are a bunch of people following something different. Go to China or Japan you will still find people greeting each other with a bow. Japan even after being the most advanced country in terms of technology didn't use computers for their government documnet processings untill a programme capable of using japanese script was developed. A hell lot of chinese industrialists hire translators because they cannot speak english and alos they donot wanna learn the language. Why is it only with a few Indians that they consider their own culture as a primitive one and the rest opf the world to be far more advanced. The world could advance in technology only because the contributions of the Indians. We geve the decimal numbering system to the world, we gave them the fundametal of using 'zero' in the numbering system, 'ayurveda' the oldest form of medication, 'yoga' the oldest form of fitness programme. The whole world wants to follow India. And you feel yourself out of the globe just cos you are Indnia. That's funny...

In the larger metros now days, a group of friends can be from various states and decide to comunicate in a language which all are comfortable with. Most often this proves to be English.

It is polite to greet a person everytime you meet them, not always with "How are you?", but with a short Hi or Hello. There is no substitute in hindi except for "namaste" which is rather long and might sound out of place in an informal conversation.

On the other hand, a longer greeting in English or Hindi is acceptable in more formal situations.

Yes,we are moving away from our old Indian decent culture,as we are influenced by the western culture and thus pratically applying it in our daily life.It is shame on us that we are consedering the rude and nad western culture.Why is it so that after going their the children make their parents as servants?It is because our intelligence is being polluted,and we are thinking something bad as good.Do you thnk that the western people have only brought the sex thing?If yes ,it is true.Thus ,you can see that we are trying to replace our rich,decent culture by the polished westrn culture!!

Dont worry, people who laugh at others for speaking in their mother tongue will be sorry and realise their mistake soon.
Indian clothes (saree 6 yds. Pavada davani. ) may be cumbersome while travelling in buses and trains.so people dress to their comfort. As long as the dress is decent you should not mind.

It is all part of Divine 'EVOLUTION'. Nothing can be done to stop the changes and the happenings in the universe.

Ravi, you are asking question or making issue.
We are moving away from our own culture due to lake of culture's education. Our seniors, parents and guardian get very busy to feed us more and more extra unneeded values. And they didn't give us our culture's education. And this is our mistake that after getting sense or adultery we not learn.
Small example, Did you have WATER POT (MATTI KA GHARA) to make cool water or you have refrigerator? I still have WATER POT in my house. I am not using Refrigerator to make water cool.

let's take it this way .......the world is shrinking that means globalisation. people sticks with what they other people find cool..whether its westren or mexican but in my belief stay with whatever you are comfortable with whether its Indian or american.
