I have just split up from my partner whom i was very much in love with. This has really hurt me and ever since I have had a constant heavy feeling on my heart, it feels like it is beating faster than usual and it hasn't slowed down at all, its been like this now for over a month and it keeps me awake at night. How can I get rid of it, is it literally a' brokenheart' and when will it go away?

Try to relax, only time can heal a broken heart. Alternative therapies such as reiki or indian head massage may help.

Sometimes you gotta just let it all out. Have you been holding your emotions in too much? You gotta find an outlet for this angst, stress, or pain, cause it could get to you. Talk to a friend or really let it out. Watch comedy that will truly make you laugh your heart out or go do something really exhilarating. Do things that are good for your soul, and do them constantly and consistently. It could really help.

A broken heart is so painful it will cause you to not feel like living. It doesnt sound like a broken heart in that sense that you are suffering, if you have split up from your partner things will get better. Did you split up from them or did they split up from you. If you split up from them its your conscience banging away, depends on the reasons you left them, if they split up from you then dont worry, the pain will go eventually. Time will heal.

same here-just broken up+heavily inlove..u need to breath from yr nose and think of the oxygen going to all yr body parts that feel sad. think of where yr heart is and guide the oxygen there or wherever else u feel that it 'hurts'.oxygen helps the pain go away from the body.yoga also will help u-moves the muscles+oxygen removes emotions+tension. i know what u r going through, it's unbearable. hope we feel better soon...

the best bet to cure this is Prayer.
Just turn your problem over to God and the last thing you do at night just read something inspirational and it does not have to be from the bible..just some writing that you like that will give you hope.
there are three things you need in this life
something or someone to love
something to do
and something to look forward to
God will not give you a problem He does not think you can handle have Faith and you will see that even though you are suffering now there will be better days ahead..never give up on HOPE

you're joking right?
a broken heart is a figment of speech, not an actual medical condtion. if you are stressed, most likely you have a raised blood pressure, which you need to get checked out.

that or you cholestorol is too high
