Does dvi audio use the same cable as a optical audio cable?

DVI is a video ONLY cable
Audio is completely independent. If you use RCA cables, you get stereo. If you use a digital audio cable, then you can get 5.1 channels of audio, but you need an AV receiver to play it back

YES! It depend on your player audio output.
