Ent: that site is nonsense. Everyone knows the Tamil Tigers are ethnic Tamil HINDUS. They are motivated more by religion and ethnicity than a politcal ideology. I actually have visited Sri Lanka on several occasions as an NGO worker.

You require a strong conviction and willingness to die for principle, and atheist have neither of this. So not to worry. Possibly neo-cons could become suicide bombers.

There are no atheist suicide bombers...to do that requires a theology that embraces martyrdom and reward in the afterlife (either Christianity or Islam). Atheists are not afraid of death...they certainly don't have to make up stories about the afterlife, nor do they have any reason to throw this life away. Yes, they can hold passionate views about an issue, but that is not the same as holding an irrational belief.
The Tamil Tigers are not atheists, they believe a lot of irrational things about life and death, and they are very much into martyrdom. The Hindus will set themselves on fire over the postponement of a civil service examination (this has actually happened).

Normally I would not fear atheist suicide bombers because Atheists in general are too afraid of death to kill themselves and they are too lukewarm politically and socially to care enough about an issue to do it.
