I work in a hotel bar in Scotland, at weddings normally when someone buys a round they will give a tip of up to £1, and at the end of the night the bride and/or grooms parents usually give around £50 to £100 depending on how good the service was, also guests tend to have a kitty and at the end of the night whatever is left is given to the bar staff. At a wedding I usually come home with around £100 in tips, 10 of us on so £1000 in total from everyone at the party.
At my wedding we just tipped the bar/waiting staff at the end of the night think it was about £70 and so did my husbands parents.
10% is far too much I'd say £100 at the most if you are happy with the service. Enjoy the wedding.

I would work on the basis of £10-20 per person at the most. You'll probably have around 10 waiting staff 3 or 4 in the kitchen and 3 or 4 bar staff. Call it around 20 for an even number, and you'll be looking at £200 - 400 in total. If you get good service thats fair enough, but don't go over board if the service/quality of food is poor.

I will not be tipping my hotel, I may tip the waiters who look after us but the prices are high enough for a wedding without adding extra charges on, a 10% tip is way too high your talking about £700 thats a cake and a chocolate fountain, your being too generous, just give each of the waiters/waitresses a £10 tip

I tip 10% top service and atleast 5% if not so top service. Considering this is a wedding, I am being genuine when I say weddings are quite costly but memorable indeed. If the hotel staff are courteous tip generously.

I would be surprised that the bill did not include a gratuity. Most places charge on the bill for a tip. Just check the bill and ask the manager when you pay the bill. I almost did not ask at a retirement party but then i seen on the bill i was charged fifteen percent...wow..so i did not tip double..there is always a fee for a party like the one you are giving..its in the bill hidden..so ask the manager for sure/

I think 10% is very high for tip . %5 may be ok . The wedding bill is even very high on its own so it is not a good idea to pay extra %10 tip.But if you think when you pay %10 the service will be super then you pay it because weddings are memorable events . But money is important too because it is hard to earn.If you have too much money and it is easy to earn for you ,do not need to think so much .

It will really depends on the quality service they provide.
Wedding should be once in a life time (the usual way)... If they have done a good on serving and satisfied every guests. It is well worthed.
But on the very honest side, I think 10% is kind of much... If it is compulsory, then you must pay, or I think 5% is not bad...
Hope this help..

all this is assuming the function goes well, but I've found a good rule of thumb to start the event with a 12% tip in mind, then take off 1% for anything that you didn't like or went wrong as the night progresses, if they do well, they deserve a good tip, but anything that goes wrong, at their hand, they should feel through the tip, as you'll remember if for much longer!

Well- £700 seems an awful lot to tip. I would just tip each helper £15-20 which would seem fair.
