The answer is a NO.
caste system is deeply rooted in the Indian culture.
The rich and the politicians will keeps it that way .
Its more easier for them to manipulate their schemes. As you can see and observe the great imbalances in your country. Its not the choice of the people of India. Its the choice of the people in power.

Urbanisation is a solution for castesim. How many city dwellers know what caste their neighbours are? or their co passengers in the mass transport systems. Does any one at the call centres or the software parks identify all the other people by their caste? Can any one imagine untouchability in the city environment? With education, urbanisation and increase in standard of living Casteism may gradually have a slow death; but may take a very long time - even a few centuries. Think about the caste names as surnames of our ancestors. In Tamilnadu nobody can identify the caste of a person from the name nowadays.

castism is allready going to be eradicated automatically you need not do anything. as in vedas and Geeta the castism was so influencive that Lord Krishna said to Arjuna that while being Kshtriya your duty is to fight the war , you need not to think that your family members would be killed or whatever . the supreme things is to fight on the basis of caste.because castes were also made by the God.now a days who follow it. does all brahmin are vegiterian perhaps no.
allready it is finished. now the profession came into picture. allready man crossed the limit and anybody can choose any career , there is no boundation because of the modern time.
but now a days some other problems are creating like religionalism due to mixing of the castes.in old age everybody was following the caste religeously but now castes are mixed but religion is disturbed. people are dying in the name of religion.

Yes you can, but castism is a symptom of a bigger problem.
I'm not very familiar with the Indian culture, but I suspect the problem is the corruption culture.
I am in China and in the last year or so the Government has had a crackdown on corruption. Suddenly the tax take went up by 20%.
As I see it, if you try to deal with the castism without dealing with the rest of the problems you won't achieve a lot because the rich people can bribe the Judge or court attendants, but if you deal with the corruption culture you fix many other problems.
As happened in China, you only need a few very prominent people to loose their jobs and end up in jail for everyone to realize corruption isn't being condoned anymore.
When that happens, and Judges and Police will know it's not safe for them to accept bribes, suddenly castism and all the other injustices start to disappear.

Good thought !!!
Look at ISKCON (http://www.iskcon.com). It has members from all casts and countries. Each of the members care for every other living beings irrespective of their cast or nationality.
So if more and more people have this kind of values this whole world will be a much better place.
But back to your point - Till there is the greed in minds of administrators and also in the minds of common men your dream is a very distant happening. Again the cure for greed and many other obstacles in the way of real progress is spirituality.
So stop identifying yourself with this body and being of this cast and this country rather accept your eternal existence as a spirit soul and try to enhance your contributions to the creation as a whole even above the level of a particular nation.

creater is always eradicator
man made castism so man only can eradicate
to my mind castism was nothing but distribution of work according to the ability and capability of the people at large
there may have been some sort of discrimination in the distribution of castism which is the norm since ages
earlier writ ran large n strong of the mighty kings n rulers now a days the scinario is no diffrent all powerfull politicians are the only ones who need castism drastically or the ones who derive hafty benefits
the mighty wanted and still want people at large to keep engaged fighting among themselves on the basis of nothing but meaningless castism so that they are able to give meaning to their misdeeds
castism is gone
do not ask anybody cast for anything may be what
but recognise humanity of a human let castism eradicate itself
RECOGNISE BE RECOGNISED AS INDIAN
BELEAVE IN ONE INDIA

Cast system practiced wrongly today is not right at the present modern circumstances. Therefore, it should be abolished and the proper scientific Varnashrama Dharma or Bhagavata Dharma, based on the eternal Vedic principles should be established.
The caste system, called as Varnashrama Dharma consisiting of four social order, viz., Brahmanas, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras and the four spiritual orders, viz., Brahmachary, Grihastha, Vanaprastha and Sannyasa is very natural in all the society. We find an intelligent class of men(Brahmanas),military people(Kshatriyas), commercial men(Vaishyas) and manual laborers(Shudras). In every country we see these above four kinds of people are present which is natural.
But at the present time the above system(Varnashrama system) which was scientifically based on the quality and work of a person as per the Vedas(veda means knowledge) has become spoiled as caste system in modern times based on one's birth.
For example, if a son of a judge or doctor becomes a judge or doctor judge based only on his being the son of a judge or doctor is not right. But anybody can be a judge or doctor based on his acquiring the quality of the judge or doctor.
Lord Sri Krishna says in Bhagavad gita, chapter 4,text 13,
According to the three modes of material nature and the work associated with them, the four divisions of human society are created by Me. And although I am the creator of this system, you should know that I am yet the nondoer, being unchangeable.
So, it can be said that the actual pure varnashrama system (now mistakenly called as caste system) based on one's nature and work is good and makes one advance spiritually in god realization, whereas the corrupted casted system based on one's birthright alone is not only right but leads to chaos in the society.

The only way I can see is to change people's thinking early on. The cast type of thinking is started in the crib. This goes for both sides.

Everyone could convert back to Buddhism. No castes system there. The caste system is tied deeply to the religious structure. I'm not sure if Hindu originally had a caste system or not. If it didn't, maybe there's a way back to the fundamentals. Besides, don't want Kama Sutra back

Nothing is impossible. It is upto the younger generation who should come forward to eradicate it; by doing inter-caste marriages; inter-state relationships and moreover, as soon as our next generation becomes fully literate and choose their partners in the right earnest, it will certainly slowly eradicate. Of course, it may take its time.
