I notice that there are many identical answers to a lot of the translating questions in this category. Is there a particular reason for this? Are points so important? To quote from the community guidelines:

"NO POINT-GAMING: You may not post content for the explicit purpose of gaining points..."

If someone's answer would be the same as one already posted, wouldn't it better to just give that person a "thumbs up" and move on to another question? Just a thought.

An interesting point at that..

They may be blindly giving an answer to a question just to earn the 2-points.

And may be hoping to be getting the best answer by clicking on vote as best answer on their own answer when it comes on voting period and get away with it.

AND!!!

I understand that people answer these questions with the same answer at the same time, and this is an accident and is excusable.

What me and probably Thunder don't understand is that the times are displayed on the answer.

I've seen many questions with the SAME, SAME answers, the other one 40 mins. ago, and the other 2 secs ago.

I don't understand that.

Inexcusable.

Sure points are fun. And by my definition of explicit, posting content for the EXPLICIT purpose of gaining points is to actually SAY "I'm posting this for the 2 points." or just "2 points". Answering the same as someone else may be for the SOLE purpose of gaining points, but (as far as I know) that's not contrary to the explicit guidelines. It would be very hard to prove, too!

The other reason you'll find identical answers to translation questions in particular is that people will go to the same automatic translation site and type in the identical text. They might not be the right answer, but they'll be the same. (Or, because the translation is so straightforward that there's really only one answer--this seems much less frequent an occurence! (Although I rarely read the translations to languages I don't know at all, including Spanish, so my view may be skewed.))

Well, there are times when you're about to answer a question, 0 answer is indicated. But once you're finish and finally sent your answer, you will see that others happened to answer that particular question also. Furthermore, to some, even though they read the same answer, they sometimes differ in reasoning. So, there's that tendency that many have identical answers but not on the way they reasoned out.
Anyway, allow me to greet you "HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!"
Have a nice day :)

I think it would be way simpler that way, but don't forget that while you answer a question, other people are also answering. If the answers are already posted there and it's right and there's nothing else to say beyond it, thumbs up and go I say.

people respond to questions at differant rates, and while responding a person wont know what other people are going to answer. sometimes there is only one correct answer. hence a lot of the same answers
