It's a good thing because it gives you a place to meet and worship together with other believers so that you all may strengthen and embolden your faith.

If you want to go there to worship God and get to know God or get some peace in your soul, it is a good thing. If your intentions are good you may go to church. The Church is the people of God. If you love God, the Church is a good thing. If it is a good Church then it is good. Better if you go to the true Church. Ask God to help you find the true Church. He will help you.

Even though I'm an atheist I must say that your question has no answer. I go to a lot of churches because I like the art and the music. I know people that go to church to pray for misfortune to befall a fellow human. Good/bad it all depends on why one goes to church and believe e you haven't covered all your bases.

I can't answer for other religions, but in Christianity it is a good thing because a) it is fellowship with other believers
and
b) it gives you some time to worship God, when sometimes you may forget to do it when you don't have a set time, like church provides.

On a side note: A lot of churches have free food... thats a good thing to me! YUM!

Church is misunderstood by many. They think you have to go to be saved or you have to go to talk to God. You have to be part of the services, and the whole shebang.

But even the Bible says Church is just a place to gather.

Think of it like a party...you can go or not, its up to you.

there should be other people with the same beliefs, a little research in phone directory is useful for finding a local church in your area.
