Yea, tell me about it! I've been renting blu-ray DVD's online from blockbuster and so far, it doesn't look like any of them were filmed in HD.

For a comparison I downloaded the previews for the movie 300 (onto my PS3 from playstation's online store [preview was free btw]) in HD and watched that, then watched the blu-ray disc and the previews were better.

I say, why waste money on a blu-ray DVD when it doesn't play in hi-definition because it wasn't recorded that way? Seems like a big rip-off to me. Good luck with your search. Maybe you should consider signing up with blockbuster online, or Netflix and renting blu-ray discs before you buy them.

You mean "mastered" in HD/Blu-Ray specific equipment, as far as filming camera goes, they shot in extremely high-def film camera; a trial mastering of original camera film of SW 4 New Hope showed even the seems on Death Star prop was visible, I forgot they say they were mastering Toshiba HD or Sony Blu-Ray.

I've researched this before, and at this point in time, it's not possible right now. Movies are shot with a high end camera, but the shot is interlaced. It is then mastered in progressive which shows a good quality picture but there is still signal loss. Upgrading technology would allow them to do this, but they would end up with no solid profit
