There is no such author. It's more like a large string of editors from different time periods. Most of it is word of mouth traveling through time being altered, chronological tampered, added to, censured etc, until writing is discovered and they can start putting all of this on to parchments and some chronological order.
It is very obvious that there must be gross inaccuracies, great confusion and chaos involved. even then the "bible" does not constitute a single book bu a bunch of parchment here and there. This goes on with the new testament which is finally put into a single book somewhere around the 4th century known as the Translation of the Twelve.

Probably the book of Job. That's the oldest book in the Bible. The 1st 5 books of the bible give the earliest history of mankind but they were actually written later by Moses.

Well I like the answer of God, with the Ten Commandments thing, but I don't think that is the answer you are looking for. Most Biblical scholars believe that it was sometime after Moses' death, and that they were written by an unknown person.
It doesn't really matter who wrote the books, as long as they were guided by God to do so.

Moses...wrote Genesis. Under inspiration
(2 Timothy 3:16-17) All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17Â that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.
