When you finish a meal you need to wait at least 2 hours before you can sleep because if you sleep right after you eat, what's going to happen with the calories you consume? The unused calories converts into fat thus, puts more fat into your body, and when you're resting you're not burning calories.

After a meal, people tend to get sleepy, because I know I do, but we need to stay up until we properly digest our food. For some people after they eat and sleep, they realize how fast they've digested their food, and they wake up hungry again.

Sometimes if people lay down, sleep after they eat, they get stomach aches. I didn't think it was that bad until 2 nights ago, I got too tired and fell asleep on a really full stomach and I was laying on my back. I ended waking up 2 hours later with really bad stomach aches that I didn't know what to do and I couldn't go back to sleep. I had to stay up until 6 in the morning to go back to sleep. And today, I get hungry but I don't want to eat because it still hurts. Weirdest thing that happened to me, and I never want to fall asleep on a full stomach again! Hope this helped. =P

I'm not sure...because some people who can eat heavy meals in hospital lies down right away most of the time since they are eating on bed. So it's not so bad...? I had heavy meals on bed while I was in hospital and no one said anything about it.

no, only certain foods will cause you to gain weight if you eat then go to sleep. anything high in protein but extremely low in carbs is good to eat before you sleep because protein takes about 3 - 4 hours to break down in your body and if your working out and working hard all day at work your body will crave those amino acids when your sleeping. that is the only time your body has to fully repair itself. now if you want your body to use your muscles to feed itself then go ahead and go to bed on an empty stomach.
