I have been informed that soon Time Warner will be changing over to a new digital program guide called, "The Navigator." Does anyone know what will be different about the new Navigator Guide and why it is being changed? I am really used to the old guide and wonder if Time Warner may be fixing something that isn't broken! What do you get with the new Navigator Digital Guide that you do not get with the old digital guide?

Your right, the new system through Time Warner is called Navigator. It will provide an enhanced program guide (with an upgraded search), enhanced on demand features, caller ID on your TV (if you have phone service with Time Warner), and soon Internet access on your TV. It will even allow you to do things as trivial as order a pizza with your Digital Box remote. It is almost a given that there may be some problems with the Navigator, but it looks like most, if any problems, will be with the software conversion from the old guide to the new one. At worst if your box does not take the upgrade you might have to have a technician come out and switch out boxes. Hope this helps.

It won't come with a TV guide, you need a box for that. The channels don't transmit any guide data, that's dependent on the box which isn't there. Reliability is kind of a toss up depending on where you live. While my connection is stable a majority of the time, there are ups and downs in the service where it gets slow and sometimes disconnects completely. Though it should also be noted that when it happened they hadn't fixed the congestion problem since my area is pretty much a bunch of condos.

I know nothing about changes they are planning to make, but I will still give you some advice. Find another provider. I have no information for their future because after all of the mistakes they are making now with both cable and internet, I am changing to Dirtect TV or the Dish network. Every month Time Warner messes with something and it's always been a change for the worse. Get out while you still can.
