With 5 a day, you're supposed to eat different types/colour of fruit and vegetables. So if i was to eat a red apple, for example, will it be counted as a different type of fruit if i ate a green apple? becasue i've heard that different colours are needed to get different vitamins and nutrients

yes.

unless you won't eat any other fruits or vegetables, try mixing it up! different types of apples are still similar.

You will benefit more if you have some blueberries, an apple, some spinach.. instead of a yellow apple, a green apple, and a red apple.

I am suppose to have 3 fruits a day. I make sure I have my fruits. There are times that I have apple sauce and later in the day I have an apple. I think it should count as two fruits. I do the same with orange juice for breakfast and have an orange later.

I also have a banana sliced on my cereal every morning.

Some times I have a hard time getting the 5 vegetables in.

You should have 5 different fruit and veg a day (however much juice or smoothie you drink it only counts as one) and green apples are the same as red apples so it's not counted as a different piece of fruit. Noone's going to shout at you though and 5 apples and nothing different whatever their colour is better than just eating dairylea dunkers all day!
