How can we promote inter-religious understanding and harmony?

Many animosity and hatred today is generated between peoples of different religious beliefs. Religion is "hijacked" by some to promote terrorism and hatred for others. Some speak ill about others' religions. How can we help to promote better understanding between peoples of different religions ? How can we promote harmony between peoples of different faiths ?

Thank you for all those who have answered so far. I am looking for answers on inter-religous understanding and tolerance. Not answers on how to promote one's own religion. Thank you.

It'll never happen amongst the masses, for the masses simply aren't that intelligent. You may open a few minds, but it doesn't matter either way.
Just speak your mind and let others speak theirs. Don't tell anyone that they're wrong. Let people feel comfortable to express themselves and they will open to you. That works with any form of mutual understanding.

people were claiming to attempt this for hundreds of years and it has failed. i go with to ruin all faith in each and every way, structure and attraction. faith is a dillusion in which mankind with all that is vanity chooses to have some fairy tale thoughts to validate that they have got an answer to the position people got here from and the position they are going. The bible teaches humility yet people are not any further humble they are boastful. people are so egotistical that they imagine they have all in the universe found out wanting each and everything in a tidy little equipment suggested as god. Why no longer keep on with the guidelines of the land written with more beneficial experience and interest than even the bible? at the same time as grow to be the most suitable time you referred to a christian pluck out their eye because it indignant thee? they don't look going to adhere to the bible except the elements that come organic. different religions trust in such goofy issues i ask your self how stupid people ought to were in the beginnings of those religions and how stupid they were to bypass it on to destiny generations. that is common to get sheep to trust in issues at the same time as they are youthful and impressionable. faith is brainwashing and so deeply imbedded that it is almost no longer plausible to undo the wear and tear. Through faith and reason and love of neighbor we can communicate with one another and discover how we all seek truth. Peace and harmony, as an end unto themselves, are without meaning. Man's desire to know, love, and serve God is the only meaningful hope for understanding, harmony, and peace.

Make everyone Realize We all are souls not hindu, muslim, christian or buddhist...and God is one and he is the Universal father of all souls. All souls are brothers and there exists universal brotherhood relation amongst us. See how easy it is to understand. We cant compel others to change, We must change and inspire others to change, drop by drop will fill the ocean. when we change the whole world will change for us.
