Peter cut off a Roman soldier's ear with a sword before Jesus was betrayed. Jesus must have known that Peter was armed with a sword, and probably his other disciples as well. Jesus told Peter to put down his sword, because he didn't want to defend himself anymore. I don't think defending yourself is a sin, basically, I don't think Jesus does either.

There will always be circumstances where a person has to resort to fighting or at least defending themselves. I would not hesitate in fighting for or defending my family, friends or myself, and to a lesser extent my property. I do not condone violence, as rational discussion should be able to diffuse a situation. BUT, there are many irrational and disrespectful people who want what is not theirs or just get a thrill out of picking a fight. The best option is to flee, which is not cowardly, but the wise thing to do.
The worst crime of all is when the law protects people who have no regard for not only themselves but for society and they think the world owes them something.
History shows that most wars are fought with alterior motives and agendas and the people who get hurt the most are the innocent.
Some cultures embrace the war monger spirit and thrive on violence and the capacity to bring harm to others.
BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS AND FACE UP TO THE CONSEQUENCES OF THEM

Well put, and I agree with you. There are situations in which we must fight. Natural Instinct is to stay alive. I myself, agree with Bush. I also know the Iraq war is right thing to do and we do not need to "cut and run" , that is what a coward does. We need to stay until it is finished.

Yes, there are situations and many of them that you simply must fight. In defense of your family, friends and future, for starters. But that doesn't mean a thing, because wars are too primitive for modern man, unless you can put him into a trance, or subdue his brain long enough to convince him otherwise. All in All violence is a brainless form of controlling people, and until mankind can grasp that concept, and truly believe it, he shall never shine amongst the stars. Never.

That is a given! Personally I didn't see anything wrong with keeping the N Vietnamese out of South Vietnam. Politically they wouldn't fight it!
However, if you look back through history, most wars were over land and resources! We have fought a few of those ourselves as that is how we took America from the Indians and from Mexico!

I'm against *this* war, but I don't know anyone personally who believes war is *never* the answer. Self-defense almost always comes into play. If we're directly attacked, we fight back. Period.

Fighting and warfare are sometimes the ONLY answer. Especially if you wish to be free to ask questions.

Sure there are. If someone calls you a name, you don't like it but it isn't worth fighting over. It's just words. When someone breaks your finger, fight back or he'll come back and break your legs! That's worth fighting over.
