I inherited my house from my grandfather. When I divorced my husband, I was awarded it because it was important to me (that and my ex was a real jerk and I won full custody of the children). I have always wondered about this room that's in the house and what it was used for. It literally is a hidden room. If you were to walk around the house you wouldn't even see it, and it doesn't have windows either. The entrance is hidden in the back and on the side of our very narrow broom closet. Why it has double doors I don't know, but it does. It's carpeted and in one section has linoleum. I currently use it for storage because I already filled up the attic (I kept my children's clothing and other sentiments) and I don't want to have to move anything down to the second or third levels of the house. What in the world is this for? If anyone knows, PLEASE let me know! I also thought it could have been used as a prayer room or something. You can't be disturbed in there.

I'm in Milwaukee, WI. No, there is not a lock. Just double doors.

It can be a calm & quite prayer room or a meditation room where you just feel the power of praying to God & enjoy the silence for meditation.

It would be interesting to know how old the house is and where you live (the city and state only - don't want uninvited guests). It would be easier to answer the question.

It could have been a room for hiding escaped slaves as part of the Underground Railroad. I don't know if the carpet/linoleum has significance.

I'd like to think it was a prayer room used to hide escaped slaves.

Be blessed.

it is called verifying the info. Many frauds in the realm of biblical antiquities were perpetrated, somewhat lately. With the continuing arab excavations of the temple mount, the continuing arab destruction of antiquities from both the first and 2d temple eras and the arab propensity to create info in the media, some thing that is alleged through the arabs ought to undergo a diligent verification procedure. If the info is real that there is an medievel prayer room next to al-aqsa...what does that tutor? no individual has ever reported that there hasn't been a muslim presence on the mount for over 1000 years. on the different hand, the muslims, somewhat lately, have promulgated the lie that the Jewish Temple, that are recorded in 0.33 celebration histories, not in any respect existed or a minimum of existed elsewhere. So who's the more beneficial solid. those who wait to verify their famous previously publishing them or those who spoil the info and deny the existence of nicely documented historic actuality? BTW: you fairly ought to the thanks to word your premise. If the Israelis are liars, as you declare, then their announcement of the locate is fraudulent and no such prayer room exists. you're purely yet another party of the psychological dishonesty, disingenuousness and pathological prevaricating to be found between arabs, muslims and those who help them.

Sounds like a wonderful room to get away from everyone and everything for WHATEVER reason. If I owned the house, I would keep it free of storage, and not tell my next—if there is a next—live-in friend, or anyone else.

Also, if someone is breaking and entering your home, you can hide there...but not if everyone knows about it.

I would start now—keep it a secret room!

If it can be locked from the inside, its called a safe room. built as a placeto hide in times oftrouble, or in case you areever home when your house if burgled. if there isn't a lock on the inside, its just a secret storage room, often where furs and jewelery were kept.

Sounds like a neat room in any case, I'd love to have something like that in my house. I think in older houses it was more common to add hidden rooms. Regardless of it's original intended use, you can use it for anything you like.

It's just a hidden room. A prayer room can be any room, if you want to use it as a prayer room, then you can use it and thus making it a prayer room.

Simple as that.

Do it up and decorate it for your own personal retreat, and when things get tough go in there and meditate or pray, keep the room for you

God Bless You
