My indoor cats want to go outside only for the sole purpose of eating grass, and to roll in dirt.

Cats use grass as a laxative to enable them to pass hairballs lodged in their intestines, to make them vomit up hairballs, when they are feeling sick and this makes them vomit, getting rid of poisons.
Cats eat grass to relieve inflammation of their throats, to relieve stomach ache, to add roughage to their diets.
They also eat it to get the folic acid from the grass.

If your cat has the opportunity, he'll roll in the dirt. Not only does this endeavor limit the oxygen available to fleas, but it also removes excess oils and unwanted odors. Working the dust in from side to side, the cat eliminates the world's intrusions and comes back to his sense of self.

Eating grass usually causes them to vomit, neutralized stomach acids, the rolling in the dirt is just fun. you keep vacuuming up all the dust and dirt in the house, so that is play and feels good. Gives the back a good scratch. They are happy cats.

Role in dirt is nice for a cat, It's like playing and he gets to scratch his back on the ground if he does the that.

The grass eating binds the fur that he has swallowed into a ball so he can vomit it up as a fur ball. This is why there is sometimes grass it their fur balls.

I bet the rolling in dirt is kinda fun for the cat. Cats eat grass to induce vomiting, in order to "clean" their digestive system. I'm not sure why they need to do this, but that's what a vet told me years ago.

Because cats find eating grass a lot easier than smoking grass.
The rolling in dirt is from over excitement from getting some fresh air...

Cats eat grass to aid in digestion; they often roll in the dirt if they have fleas or other parasites.

I think it's also some sort of instinctive craving. My cat will lust for grass and greens whenever she gets a chance, regardless of how she feels. No reason needed.
