Would you think it was romantic if an ex-boyfriend (who broke up with you mainly because he didn't want a long distance relationship) sent you a package containing the plastic flower you wore in your hair on your first date with him and a letter saying that he really missed you and regretted breaking up? She actually made that flower for a dance that we went to together. The dance was the reason we started dating...we practiced learning to dance together and then decided to go as a couple. Its been several months and I still don't really want a distance relationship, but I just can't stop thinking about her and wondering how she is doing. I really miss her. Then again, I don't really want to offend her, or make her sad if shes moved on. How would you feel?

Okay, I am not going to answer the question you asked because I think there is something you are missing that makes this all irrelevent. Why are you making this romantic gesture when you still don't want a long distance relationship? You need to decide your own feelings before you actually do something like this. If you truly have strong feelings for her, what is so bad about a long distance relationship? If you are still pining away for her now, there really is no difference; it can't get much worse. However, if you doubt your feelings that much that you would say that you wouldn't want a long distance relationship, then you should consider moving on. So, you must decide. Is she so important to you that you wouldn't mind not seeing her and have faith simply on the promise you make to each other? Is the pain you feel with her absence only nostalgia? If you decide that you really do have feelings for her, then a romantic attempt is always good. Her response shouldn't matter (though, it is always good to consider their feelings). You shouldn't fear their response; if it was meant to happen, it will happen.

Okay, so I will take a guess at the actual question though this is only a guess as I am nothing but a humble and clueless guy. I think it is very romantic and if she had any feelings towards you, she would response positively. If she has doubts though, she may become sad as a result. If you truly want to give the long distance thing a shot, I say go for it.

I think it is a great way to open up a dialogue about what you each really want and whether or not you can make it work.
I think it's romantic that you kept the flower.

*giggles* you forgot to tell your story in the 'third party' sentence and changed into 'first party'.

I guess you do have feelings for her if you constantly think about her. but check first, you might just be too late to win her heart back. cos she must've hurt when you broke up with her. and be sure this time that you are serious in being with her even if its a long distance relationship. usually if you can make it through the long distance thing, it means you've got yourself a winner.

That does sound romantic and sweet...but if the circumstances that caused you to break up with her in the first place still exist, don't do it. It would be cruel to tease her like that. Leave her alone.

That's cute.... I wish someone would do that for me! no.. my long distance ex wouldn't do that.......

At least it lets her know you are thinking of her!! It's a good feeling whether or not she's still into you.

If my ex did something like that, I would just laugh at him. We ended things three years ago, and if he still loved me, why would he wait that long? (This is a song moment: "Where Have You Been?" by Reel Big Fish. Best post-break-up song ever.)
