We have 4 housecats, 1 foster housecat, 2 dogs, and 1 foster dog right now and I know vets can be expensive. Also, I do not know of ANY vet any of our foster parents have used that is not willing to set up some kind of payment plan. Be honest and tell them the maximum amount you can pay a week. A lot of vets are happy just if you make an effort with like $5 or $10 a week. Also, if your vet will not agree to a payment plan; make a list of all vets or animal hospitals in the area from the phone book, get a copy of your cats med records, and go to the other vet offices personally and explain your situation. Our rescue group has found it is easier to line these things out in person than on the phone. I really think you ought to be able to find her some sort of medical treatment this way. Also, I do not know what state you live in. I live in Indiana, and our rescue group helps people in the same situation as you sometimes. A week ago, a family had a German Shepard with a severe skin condition that required EXPENSIVE meds, we went with the family to the vet to help arrange a payment plan and kicked in some money towards it. Ask any rescue group, ASPCA, Humane Society, etc you can find. Most would rather help out than see you not be able to give the animal proper medical care. If you DO live in Indiana, email me and I will try to help you. Also, when you talk to the rescue groups or the vets office about these situations DO NOT BE ASHAMED OR EMBARRESED of your situation. Everybody hits hard times sometimes. PS about going to the vets for payment plans, sometimes if you can actually talk to the vet instead of reception staff, it helps as some vets own their own practice. GOOD LUCK

I would suggest cleaning her with warm water and mild baby soap on a soft cloth my cat had a similar problem and baby wipes even the sensitive ones bothered him. Keep the sores clean and dry try not to cover them with anything thick (like Vaseline) the air helps to heal. I know you can't afford a vet. It was the same way with me for a while. Call around some vets do charity work for the local shelters and are willing to treat animals even if you can't pay. The vet I use works on a payment plan. If I couldn't afford a visit they would take a down payment sometimes as small as $20 and would let me pay it off over time in small amounts (no interest was charged) Also they might be willing to give you some free advice. I wish you and your kitty the best of luck.

Well, I have to tell you honestly that you should see a vet, but I understand that sometimes that is not financially possible, just try and get her some help as soon as you can. You didnt say why exactly she was paralyzed or where at, but I would treat the sore like any open wound. Make sure to keep it clean, wash it a few times a day with antibacterial handsoap and water, then apply a OTC triple antibiotic cream (make sure it doesnt have any kind of painkiller in it, many of them are toxic to cats). You need to prevent her from licking at the wounds, as this will only cause more irritation and infection, you can do this buy purchasing one of those e-collars (looks like a lampshade) from any pet store or wal-mart type store. If she is cage bound, she needs to be rotated from lying on one side to the other every 4 hours at least. Its also important with paralyzed patients to physical therapy and range of motion exercises a few times a day to keep the blood flow going to the extremeties and prevent muscle atrophy. Good luck

If she has urine scald (irritation around her urethra from lying in urine) you can use a diaper rash cream , any variety made WITHOUT zinc.

If you had a daughter that was in pain every day and desperately needed to go to the doctor, would you say you didn't have the money.....NO!!! You would make payment arrangements with the hospital which is what you need to do here. It is cruel to let an animal sit in pain. The animal is your responsibility much as a child would be. Take her to the vet!!!!! I have never met a vet that will turn you away because you do not have all the money. You just have to TRY!!!!!!!!

Patients in the hospital get bed sores from not being turned. You must reposition the cat several times a day. I have heard the honey thing but if that does not work you have to see the vet. Decubitus ulcers, which is what this is go very deep. Good luck.

Oh my, that poor baby. I am a registered nurse. I wish I could see them. An old remedy we use to use (no this was in the old days) was liquid antacids! Let me put it to you like this, an ulcer in the stomach is very similar to an bed sore or decubitis ulcer. Probably her urine is burning her little tush. Clean her throughly then apply an antiacid (since money is tight just us a generic one, and baby wipes). I hope this helps but dont let her suffer if it gets bad. Sorry to here that. Will you let me know if it helps I have an Im thing. Okay

If you can't afford medical care for the cat you need to take her to the vet and explain the situation. You have to put the cats health first here and make sure she is not suffering. You could also try the humane society or your local SPCA. But you have to do something, you can't let that cat suffer!!

If it just looks like pressure sores and they are not infected, you can apply triple antibiotic to help heal them faster. Also, you may want to consider where your cat is sleeping and sitting and place foam or other soft cushion where the cat lies regularly to help releave the pressure.

In my opinion, the only thing to do is take her to a veterinarian. Call around, shelters some times will help with the costs of medical care for people who can't afford it. If you have a local humane society, please, call them asap. This doesn't sound good at all.

You have to take her to the vet, she can easily get an infection, if anything they'll probably give you a antibiotic cream for her. Please find a way to bring her, she could be very very uncomfortable.
