No, it is evident that some people are not strong enough to live without a God. I have spoken with people who say they are only moral because they worship a God, they stated hat before they starting believing in a God they were very immoral.

so you think that the human race needs a greater power to keep from killing each other?
i thought that was what morals and laws where for. i highly doubt the human race will degrade that far if someone disproves the that a god exists.
heres an idea take a look at the reason behind some of the more violent wars and such dating all the way back and you might be surprised to find that religion is at the start of most of the wars.
such as the crusades, ww2, most of the wars in the middle east, the witch hunts of both Europe, and America.
personally i think if all religions could just admit that they all started the same way and such or could just GET ALONG FOR ONCE then they might get what they want which is world peace.

Neither better nor worse, it would be just about the same. Of course, the bigotry and such that comes with religion would disappear, but nothing else would change. We'd still have wars a-plenty because the number 1 cause of war is Greed, not religion. (in fact, more often than not, Religion is used as a motive only to mask Greed). Although I will say, maybe things would be worse of if religion had never appeared. Because religion was mans original answer to "Why am I here? Where did everything come from?" And if there was no religion, then that would probably mean nobody ever wondered about those things. And where would we be if we never started wondering?

Not at all... Its just like saying that if the person was not educated than he would have been a better lawyer or better engineer... That sounds bit illogical..
You need to get educated first and religion is the education of every human being to get a peaceful life...
Now not every one of us follow the teachings of their respective religions and that is the main cause of these murders, rapes, robberies etc.
May Allah help you find the truth

No, I don't think so. First, we are humans, and humans are rational beings. You cannot stop the will of the man to question, think, and explore. Suppose to say that the religions don't exist, what we become then? Still living in primitive ways wherein crime is not even considered as such but a mean for survival. The world would not plunge into deep chaos, contrary to what you are saying.
Religion is part of what we are as humans. It is a showcase of our superiority compare to animals.
Nice question.

If we reach the point that we can prove that a higher power does not exist, beyond a doubt, then we have probably evolved beyond the point of violent crime. I mean, if we become intelligent enough to develop the technology needed to come to such a conclusion, then we would probably already be living in a better world.

Hell yes! Think of all the time and effort currently wasted on fantasy (and the murderous hatreds it generates) being redirected into doing some actual good for the world.
The earth has the potential to be a genuine paradise if only humanity would mature out of its current state of emotional adolescence. If I want to be existentially depressed, all I have to do is think of this unrealized possibility - then my sadness turns to rage against the damned foolishness of religion!

Many religions that thrive and prosper by using "fear",could be improved in my opinion. It's not whether there is or is'nt a GOD,but maybe we all call him by a different name..
Religion itself is manmade.People use it for mostly every other reason under the sun except to peacefully demonstrate it's affects. They use "religion" to fight,to argue, and to make "the comonner's"(poor and rich alike),behave so they(the heads of churh and religion in it's highest) maintain power and control.
Religion can be better asserted through helpful good deeds that go without name, anonymously.Trouble is we humans crave that pat on the back"Aren't I good",so much that we're trying to get the approval of other humans-not Gods'.

NO, otherwise..I might as well go ahead and kill myself and get it overwith if there is no higher reward or GOD--then, what's the point. This life is just okay and for others it is damn hard. GOD is what keeps me hanging on. The thought that righteousness and morality and kindness are eternal keeps me hanging on. There has got to be more to life than "What Kind of Car do ya drive?" or "So, what do you do?" or "Wow, he has a big penis!" or "I am so pretty and popular!" or dictators slaughtering the innocent OR poverty and hunger OR the lower class out of work because labor is going to INDIA and the fat, rich capitalist CEO's are kicking back like they are so damn special. There has got to be more to existense than this superficial, petty human crap. I take the emotional satisfaction from being nice to someone or helping someone and I wouldn't trade it for money or sex or whatever anyday. That's GOD---right there. You can't see him--not in this physical world, but we can feel him.

If our anscestors never contemplated mysteries beyond their understanding, we wouldn't be sentient now. Our species would have died off from inability to adapt to the challenging environmental changes that shaped our anscestors. They would have lacked the curiousity and/or boldness and the putting clues together to even survive. Spiritual thought is a part of sentient life.
