Some people eat it boiled and dip it in butter or cocktail sauce as an appetizer. If it is raw you boil water then dump in the shrimp and as soon as it returns to a boil it is done, overcooking makes it tough. Most shrimp in stores is all ready cooked, the pink color tells the story. Raw shrimp is grey and not pink. also If it is raw, I like to peel it and de-vein it then mix flour, milk and egg to make a batter the consistency of thick pancake batter. Dip the shrimp in it and fry in hot oil about an inch deep in a heavy fry pan or pot. Turn once and remove, carefully so the batter stays on, when it's golden brown, drain on paper towel, serve with tartar sauce. I love this mixture with any fresh fish, it is tender and the fish is soooo good.

use med. high heat to lower the cooking time so it won't be rubbery.
1)add 1 oz. extra virgin olive oil
2)add 12 16-21 count shrimp.
3)add heaping tablespoon chopped garlic
4)when garlic becomes translucent add 2 oz. white wine(chablis is fine)
5)add salt and pepper to taste and a squeeze of a couple fresh lemon wedges.
6)as soon as the shrimp has a nice orange color on both sides it's done.DO NOT OVERCOOK
7)garnish with fresh chopped parsley and enjoy

Same as what James said....but take out the wine and add a few big tablespoons of butter in there to make it really awesome (but not as healthy)

Think of SeeFood, when it looks done, it is done. Grill it, saute it, boil it. Just don't overcook it.
