I have a windows 98 hewellet packer but I have lost my rebootable disc to refomat it back to factory. It is lagging so bad. I have defrag it , cleaned it. took out most of the spyware. I just dont no what else I can do. I dont have money for a new one. Please if anyone knows how I can get the disc please helppppppppppppp .

I forgot about what windows 98 is. Anyway, see if you can find something called RECOVERY. In windows xp, they have an all programs listing which lists a lot of stuff. It is under the PC HELP & TOOLS. That is about the best I can do for you. It should be in the same section that you made the backup disks with. That is if I remember correctly, which i really dont. Try it.

Also, if you google "oem software" you can find some sites that sell windows xp wSP2. The Supreme Court says it is legal to buy oem or software that says, to be sold with bundle over. I hear Bill Gates wet himself when he heard that. Anyway, you can call HP and ask what the price is for another disk or google for an OEM one. You have to check a lot of stores as prices will vary from robbery to el cheapo.

Next time you boot up hit f10 and see if it has the recovery on it. On windows xp it does. If it does do the recovery or reformat from this. Any for your info, when you get the money buy something like Norton's Anti-Virus. You see, everyone likes to congradulate themselfves cuz they run the FREE stuff and then delete the virus or trojan horse they may catch. Problem is with Norton it does not get on in the first place. I used to have problems running the spyware trying to delete the viruses and constantly reformatting when they could not detect anything and my computer was still messed up. Since I have bought Norton's not one time in the last 6 months have I had to reformat. Not like the good ole days. lol When it was once or twice a month.
