Think about it if a detective wants to talk to you and give you a lie detecter test that means he dosent have enough evidence to charge you and he is trying to get a conffesion and if you just choose to remain silent they have nothing to charge you on and you get to go home and when they say it will help you if you conffess it is a lie they just say that to get you to connffess so if given the right to remain silent I will do that and consult with an attorney so why do people talk like idiots

Interview and Interrogation are art forms. The good detectives are the ones that can get people to open up to them. The techniques used are subtle and very effective. The crap you see on TV is a joke.
Confessions are nice to have but the detective still has to have hard evidence to present along with the confession.
I always found it interesting that it is often more difficult to get an innocent witness to open up than it is the offender.

Most criminals think they can outsmart the police. Also they don't have an attorney to call and think that they need a lot of money to get one. They are afraid that they may have to wait in custody a long time fro a public defender to show up. People are nervous around cops and fall victim to the techniques that detectives use to get them to talk.

If people tell the truth, then they have nothing to worry about. BUT, if a person is telling a lie, then asking different questions over and over again will eventually catch a person in the lies.

Yes, you have the right to remain silent.

Callahan would not going Mirandize Cletus a 2nd time. If Cletus has already invoked his appropriate to proceed to be silent, Callahan would not attempt to ask him greater questions except Cletus stated that he needed to revoke his appropriate to silence. Are you writing a special or something? while you're, undergo in strategies that Callahan would not would desire to Mirandize Cletus if he did no longer plan to ask him any questions. this would probably be the case if he caught Cletus interior the region that replace into burglarized. In answer on your final 2 questions: Cletus' criminal expert can argue admission of the 2nd assertion in a suppression listening to. If Cletus replace into no longer intimidated or coerced into making the 2nd assertion, then that's unlikely that the assertion would be suppressed. via the way, the assertion would desire to be taped. Therefor, the possibility that Cletus' criminal expert would be waiting to cry 5th modification violation and whine approximately his toothless "shopper" being forced into speaking would be slender. have faith me the criminal expert will attempt this. No, Cletus' rights weren't violated as he replace into no longer tricked, coerced or intimidated. i'm hoping this facilitates.

I guess you don't watch any of the CSI shows. In the absence of confession the evidence will prove you guilty. Also, most criminals think they are smarter than the Police and can lie their way out....jails are full of criminals who "Remained Silent".

People are, for the most part, stupid.
Nobody is ever under any obligation to talk to the police. You are always free to tell any police officer "Get lost, I don't want to talk to you." The more you say, the more likely you are to go to jail.
Fortunately, 99% of criminals are even stupider than the general public, and they talk their way right into a prison cell where they belong.
Don't ever be afraid to say "Piss off, flatfoot, go munch your donuts."

Because innocent people have nothing to hide.

And lie detectors are not admissible in any state in the union, genius, so police don't use them.

There's more to law enforcement than you see on TV, skippy.
