I AM A CANCER REMISSION PATIENT, FROM MY YOUNG AGE OF 5. AM STILL LIVING WITH THE HELP OF MEDICAL SCIENCE. More than the physical pain, the mental pain, inflicted by the known persons, is really un bearable. Actually cancer is curable, but there are lots of pupil who give unwanted advise, and give the patient mental agony. Showing pity, and making them believe they are not going to live long. If any one had tackled please answer my question. THANK YOU

Pain or discomforts may be controlled or overcome by medicines and you can cunsult your oncologist. Mental agony is quite common for the patients and their relatives. Please hve positive thinking and do not give room for any negetive ideas and thoughts. You can cunsult a Psycho-oncologist to overcome this. Here are few points which may reduce your stress. please try. You will be alright.

- Use coping techniques or patterns that have helped them in the past in dealing with the stresses of life. For example, someone who has been helped by talking through their problems with trusted friends or family members should not suddenly start to keep their problems to themselves in coping with cancer.
- Take the "one-day-at-a-time" approach in dealing with the symptoms and other problems that cancer brings with it. This approach, which is sometimes called "chunking it down," helps by keeping large-scale worries about the long-term future manageable.
- Seek out a doctor with whom they feel comfortable. A doctor/patient relationship based on trust and mutual respect makes it easier to ask appropriate questions and to be a full participant in treatment planning.
- Continue to draw on religious or spiritual beliefs and practices that have been helpful in the past. Patients who do not consider themselves religious or spiritual may still find comfort in activities that they found meaningful or inspiring, such as the performing arts or nature walks.
- Keep a notebook for recording dates of treatments, medication side effects, laboratory test results, x-ray findings, etc. This record can be valuable in monitoring or evaluating one's emotional ups and downs as well as changes in physical health.
- Keep a journal or diary for expressing feelings and emotional reactions. This record also may be useful in providing perspective.

Best of luck-

Gratitude. Wake up every morning and think of all the things your grateful for. Your parents, friends, your life...People can be cruel out of ignorance. Try not to blame them and dont accept their sympathy. As long as you feel no pity and are proud of the fighter you are, no one can hurt you. Just be grateful, I cannot emphasize enough what a powerful mental state that is because it evolves your state of being. People will not pity you, they will want to model you and your strength. It is very admirable.

Well my dear person I am one who has been there and done that. I suffer from an incurable form of cancer but am in remission. Much to the amazement of everyone but myself, God and husband. I have been preached at that I needed to ready myself for death, We were not being realistic, etc etc. My husband used to get so upset and I would ask him why..He said everytime we went to the hospital they told him I was dying and nothing could be done. I accept email so if you wish to email me please do. I have been cancer free for 14 months and am very greatful for the support. Some of my so called friends mocked me, told me i imagined I had cancer etc. I did take my treatment in my own hands. I did listen to the doc but did what Ithought was best for my case. The result I am alive. Please be positive and tell those person to take a hike.:) Walked in your shoes
