How many of you have ever painted a painting as a way to pay tribute to someone, alive or dead? I’m just curious. Was it a relative, a hero or some kind? Someone who somehow inspired you in some profound way?

Sadly, I’ve only painted tributes two times. The first one (and the first painting I ever sold) was from a photograph of Miles Davis on stage performing at the Newport Jazz Festival. Then several years ago, for some weird reason, I painted the one that I’ve posted a link to here:

Yes, I know it seems cartoonish and not like anything else I’ve ever painted. But if you can figure out who it’s a tribute to you’ll understand why I painted it this way. By the way, I’m working on a large painting now that pays tribute to the folk music scene from the 1960s. Wish me luck because I’m not sure if I can do the subject matter justice. If always makes me a little nervous when I’m tackling something I haven’t tried before.

Zoltar, I've checked out your gallery before. Some of your painting, like 'Cherry Hill', 'Path In The Woods' and 'Wet Spring', are highly unique in style for outdoor landscapes. But my favorite of yours is the 'Faces In The Crowd' painting.

Was it a tribute to Jim Henson? That's who I thought of anyway. I have painted (copied) portraits of Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan off album covers years ago so I wish you great success with your ambitious project about 60's folk music. Sounds like fun!
Here's my work....

Funerals are painful, because the kinfolk ones I actual have attended have the stink of the vultures on them. A wealthy tremendous-aunt of mine died some years in the past, and a large provider become held at a church to whom she had given very much of money. The pastor become so for sure sucking as a lot because the kinfolk that it grew to grow to be all too sparkling what become being honored--my tremendous aunt's money. My father and uncles fought over spoils afterwards, and the finished element become an exercising in picking bones. If it were as a lot as my kinfolk, I and my idiosyncrasies would purely disappear and that that they'd have a quiet funeral so that they could ignore me as quickly as a danger. I actual have had to conceal my unusual philosophies from maximum of them for years, and that i imagine that, even as they'd take care of me, they do no longer settle for me. hence i'd have my very last say--a wake the position each and every thing I had would then be set out in a dirt wrestling ring and the kinfolk contributors clothed in tights, waiting to strive against it out for what's left. (it truly is a comic tale, although; i have no longer some thing fairly temporally efficient and do not care if I ever do.) If I actual ought to have a wide-spread old funeral, i am going to a minimum of insist on a interpreting of a lack of existence poem in the fashion of the samurai of old Japan. i am going to in trouble-free words wish i'd take care of to come back up with one which captures the essence of what must be remembered and what must be enable pass of. the placement with a lack of existence poem is that it truly is going to be composed on the properly. No time to positioned it in a will...
