Diet Coke hasn't got any sugar, instead it uses a combination of artificial sweeteners (Aspartame and Acesulfate). Aspartame alone is 200 times sweeter than sugar, so very little is needed to acheive the same sweetness of sugar filled drinks. The calories in Diet Coke come from the sweeteners, although there are hardly any compared to sugary soft drinks. Coca-Cola Zero doesn't have sugar in its recipe either although it does have a zero calorie count.
Important note: Soft drink must never replace water in your diet.

Ok, it says 0 fats that is because the sweetner has no fat, but it does have chemicals in it that makes our minds not work well. they tested pilots after drinking diet cola and regular cola, they were more inclined to make big mistakes with the diet drinks. They have proven that the chemicals also make you crave more to drink. In other words it does not quench your thirst, it makes you more thirsty so you reach for another and it does damage the brain. That doesn't even account for the amount of sodium that it has in it which causes you to retain fluid and is very unhealthy for the heart and blood pressure. So, there is nothing good about the diet drink that is good for you. Drink water instead. It quenches your thirst and if you add lemon it also corrects the ph of your body and eliminates toxins that you have in your body. A Soft drink once in a while is fine, just drink the one with sugar, it is healthier for you than the artificial sugar. did you know they did research with the nitrates that are in hot dogs and lots of preserved foods and aspertaime and the two chemicals togethrer make another chemical that causes tumors? It is true and we feed this junk to our children. Makes you think doesn't it. We eat hot dogs, drink diet sodas and think we're doing just fine. We aren't. Pleas stop and think before drinking that junk. Stick with water, juice and low fat milk.

Diet coke has no sugar and no fat (can you image a little blob of oil floating on top?)
You cannot drink it like water however... the fake sugar in diet coke tricks your body into thinking it is getting real sugar. Your body responds by dumping insulin, which in turn makes your blood sugar crash... making you hungry (and grumpy).
Also, water acts as a cleaning agent and helps your kindeys operate more efficiently, diet coke does not fullfil this role and in fact places additional stress on your kidneys making them less efective.
Finally, the carbonic acid leads to an increased rate of ulcers and related problems.
All soft drinks are bad for you... but if you must, stick to those sweetened with fruit juice, failing that splenda does not have the blood sugar impact. Keep moderation in mind and drink plenty of water as well (carbonated water does not count as regular water).

Diet coke drinks is killing the unborn, raining tumors and seizures on the population, destroying children, incapacitating workers, mimicking MS, erasing memory and blinding. Inexorably Diet Coke visits a plague of 92 symptoms listed by our FDA on a secret report they'll never show which names diet soda as the first source of aspartame disease. And yes, Death was one of the 92.
Diet Coke is poison. And it's addictive, some victims drink several liters a day and keep it on their nightstands. My mother in law drinks that stuff every day. She is getting to the point where she can't live alone. Also it is dose not help you to lose weight. ASPARTAME is what is in diet pop beware!!!! I would be worried about your health other then how many calories it has got.

The sweetener used in Diet Coke is called aspartame. It has no calories because it's not sugar. So, if the diet coke is calorie free, then it can't contain fat nor sugar because then it would have calories. It only contains sodium which is abou 35mg per 8 oz of soda.

people have already answered your ?? about why diet coke is "sweet" but what i want to say is that you shouldn't drink it. the artificial sweetner used in diet coke or diet ANYTHING, including SPLENDA, which really isn't "sugar" (that's a marketing ploy to get people to buy it & make you THINK it's safer than aspertane in sweet n low) is NOT HEALTHY & IT'S POISONOUS. its a sugar substitute no calories if u drink the whole 2Liter .. it is said that too much sugar substitute can give you headaches though. Your body needs the water though because if you drink less water your body will actuall store and retain more water weight because it thinks its being dehydrated.
