All of the items numbered in your question with one exception and that is #17. The soldier needs to know the difference between a legal order and an illegal order. If that is not taught then you have incidences like Mi Lai.

If your soldiers are not skilled in all the ways of warrior, they will be useless and will only cause defeat.

However, the first and most important lessons for a soldier to learn are:

1) Obey and carry out orders.

2) Always remember the first rule.

All but number 17. These Days, they don't just need to know ho to fight, but how to win the hearts and minds- that means understanding cultral differences and religions.

As for 17, orders are not above questioning. When the blind leadith the blind...

Lindie england was following orders, but the courts ruled that she should have questioned them. However, she was taught to obey without question. Orders should never replace a brain.

I see where you're going with this and I agree. How does Art Appreciation make one a better soldier? That time would be better spent on the rifle range.

2) Retreating

3) Pissing their pants under fire

4) Shooting innocent civilians

5) Shouting yee haaa
