It is certainly possible to be jailed for fighting at school. If the fighting amounted to assault and/or battery, particularly with a deadly weapon and if the other person involved decides to press charges against you. Along with the legal trouble, the school administration could suspend or even expel you -- depending upon the administration rules.

There are many kids under 18 whom I have represented in California who got into fights and ended up on Juvenile probation or even in Juvenile hall. Many were also suspended. It depends on the fight, the county, and how the cops and school authorities were feeling that day.

Depends on two things:
1 Did you start the fight and can you prove it if not.
2. Did you use a any kind of tool that can be counted as a weapon.
3 things did you hurt the other guy bad enough for him to require a hospital stay.

Ya man that sucks.
You are 18 and still in school ?
Sounds like at 18 and your fighting -- either your are a violent person and will end up in jail sooner or later or you have a to prove something. In my opinion.
And when one is in jail he or should I say SHE better learn how to defend himself or should i say HERself.
And just a side note if anybody laid a hand on me I would sue that person for everything he had and would make sure that he would never ever own anything.

At the school I work at students are arrested for fighting and they are escorted out of the building in handcuffs. They are given a court date and are suspended for up to five days.If anyone is seriously hurt the punishment gets much harsher. Don't do it ..it really isn't worth it.

depending on the circumstances you could be charged with assault. also you're probably too young for jail so it'd be more like juvenile hall.
unless you are constantly starting fights with different kids over nothing then this is unlikely though

Yes you can go to jail. Almost all schools have a no tolerance policy now, and where I worked the people who fought were always arrested unless it was merely a bump or something extremely minor.

The school didn't send them to jail. The police took them to jail. Are you asking why the school called the police?

I don't know about your state, but in Texas you can be fined $500 and the police have the option of arresting you. The school usually just opts for suspension and AEP.
