This is usually caused by allergies. Many physicians suggest any of the following lubricating creams or ointments. They can all be purchased without a prescription: Bacitracin, A and D Ointment, Eucerin, Polysporin, and Vaseline. Up to three applications a day may be needed, but usually every night at bedtime is enough. A saline nasal spray will also moisten dry nasal membranes.

Do you also have a lot of unexplained bruising, discoloration after minor injuries??? Vitamin C deficiency. Try eating more citrus fruits, lemons, limes, oranges and tangerine peel, berries, cantaloup, green leafy vegies, potatoes, tomatoes, capsicum or simply get yourself a good Vitamin C supplement with Rose hips. it contains bioflavonoids and other enzymes that help Vitamin C assimilate. They are the richest natural source of Vitamin C. (The Vitamin C is actually manufactured under the bud of the rose- called a hip).
Ask the pharmacist at your local chemist for advice on a good quality C supplement to buy. Pharmacists are a wealth of knowledge these days and can even prescribe medicines and writes notes for school/work.

I get alot of nosebleeds during the winter when the air is dry and the furnace is running constantly. Coat the inside of your nose with vaseline and run a vaporizer in the room you spend the most time in.

Maybe you need a Vitamin K supplement to help blood clotting. I had 2 girls that were getting nosebleeds once or twice a week. I started them on Vitamin K, an no more nose bleeds.
A vitamin C supplement might help to, to strengthen the blood vessels.

Probably you have a bit of snot up your nose due to allergies and your constant sniffing can cause the vessels in your nose to tear and cause nose bleeds. If you sneeze and your vessels are thin then this can cause nose bleeding. Furthermore cold days followed by extremely hot days can cause nose bleeds.
Treatment: as your doctor for some antibiotics, ointment cream. HEals really quick and prevents further breakage.

I get them as well during the winter or if I am in a dry climate. During the winter, the heater tends to dry out your nostrils.
The doctor always had me use Vaseline on a q-tip in each nostril, once in the morning and once before bed during winter months.
Good luck!

I get a lot of them too, yet I have no allergies. Obviously I get them more often in the winter when the air is dryer. My dad had this same problem when he was younger and the dr. told him he had weak blood vessels in his nose, so he had them cauterized.
