My 12 week old pug puppy pees in his puppy litter box but will not poop in it. I use puppy training pads in the litter box which seem to work well when he needs to pee, but he will not poop in the box or on a pad. What should I do?

Minimize his space. Give him his crate and his litter box and that is it! Once he goes in the litter box, take him out for some praise and play time. Then he goes back in. The key to getting him to do this is consistency! Hope this helps!

Praise him for when he pees in the box. When he poops else where in the house say "no bad dog" pick him up put him in the litter box and praise him like he just won a medal eventually (key word eventually, pugs are very slow learners) he will catch on and go in the box when he does praise praise and more praise let him know he did the right thing.

I would bring the wet pad outside about 20 minutes after a meal. The puppy should recognize its own smell and hopefully it will poop on it.

I have four Bali dogs who have the run of the house, and this is how I trained them: when they were puppies and they would pee or poo indoors what I would do was to soak a news paper in their pee (or place their poo on the newspaper) and gradually move the paper outdoors.

Puppies will usually pick a favorite place to pee/poo, so don't move the newspaper too far away from where they originally did the job. Be patient and move it only a few yards away the minute you're confident they're peeing on the newspaper.

Don't shout at them or hit them - it's cruel and they will not understand why you're being mean.

grab the head and his two front legs...,put his nose in the poop while you cross his legs to the left or right. then take him to the litter box where you want him to poop at. each time you put alittle more force on the legs and head.

Take some of his poop and put it in the litter box. Take him in there and show him the litterbox. He should get that that is where he is supposed to go.
