I've decided i should get a hair cut. so i wanted to go but i'm tapped for cash. so i went to the alternative cutting my own hair. problem is i never have. Any pointers? i have hair past my ears, i pretty much shaved my head and grew it out for 3 months. so i look like a mess. i'm try'n to go for a textured look( something i don't have to do my hair in the morning).

Okay I would first start with a three on the sides the go to a four and then a five on the top this way it all blends in but you still have enough hair on the top to spike comb foward or wear it messy. so look at the numbers on the clipper guards and use those numbers. I will give you a clean cut but enough to mess with.

Front & sides will be easy but the nape will not be.
Cut an inch of hair on your forehead then lift up similiar size pieces w/ a comb and cut following the first piece.
