"Hosties" is a colloquial name given to flight attendants by Australians in the 1960's. In the early 1970's Qantas ran a series of TV and print ads depicting the brand new Italian designed uniforms worn by their "hosties." They were very chic at the time and designed to appeal to the international traveller. Qantas was working hard through negotiations and publicity campigns to expand their international route structure.

For uniforms I would answer Alitalia, its uniforms (and its female cabin-crews) are quite famouse for beauty...
But the rest is not exact, In Italy "hostess" is the translation of "stewardess", and it's the same for all airlines, both Italian and foreign...
