I'm seventeen years old and I have a little sister, she just turned six. She likes to, if I'm reading a book to her, or kissing her good night, reach up and run her hand along my face- she likes the feeling of the stubble. I can't decide if its appropriate to let her...I mean, I personally think telling her "No, you can't" is stupid and reinforces problems we have in society...but I want to hear what others have to say. Thanks.

It is not inappropriate. Don't be so paranoid by what society has told us is ok and not ok. She loves her big brother and that is probably interesting to her. As long as what she is doing is so innocent, how can there be anything wrong? I'm sure it's not a turn on for you either, so don't sweat it. She's lucky to have you.

I don't think it's inappropriate for her at all; it's very endearing, and it's no less appropriate than hugging your sister when she's sad, or holding her hand to cross the street in my opinion. Plus, you'll have something funny about her childhood to tell when she's older. :P
As long as you're comfortable with that, I don't think it's a problem.

There is nothing wrong with it...its more the stubble than anything else. My youngest son use to want my hubby to rub his face on my sons until it was red...for some reason he liked the way the stubble felt.

I don't see anything inappropriate in this at all.
But I'm curious as to why you think so? Or why it makes you feel so that it's so uncomfortable?
I guess it boils down to one simple rule, don't do anything you aren't comfortable with, but to me this is just a little girl innocently exploring her world. Nothing disgusting about it at all. After all, you are not a stranger. You are her big brother. She just admires and loves you. I think it's sweet.

That is so sweet. your just her role model and she looks up to you. This is complete and pure innocence and all I guarantee you she is doing is showing she cares about her older brother and is honestly curious about the stubbles. Its cute. If it bothers you or whatever you shouldn't participate in a nice way not to embarass her. u sound like a sweet older brother keep it up.

If you feel that it is inappropriate, then tell her that she should stop doing that. I never took it that way when mainly my whole family plays with each others ears or the babies, toddlers rub yor face as they sleep. I think it's something they must do to know you are there. Make any sense?

I think it is cute! She is not old enough to think anything other than her big brother has a funny feeling face LOL. It is fine. You sound like a good big brother.

I don't feel that that is inappropriate at all. Most likely she not only likes the feel of it but is noticing more differences in males and females at this age.

No, it isn't in appropriate. That is natural and fine. Of course she is your sister and you having those feelings is good. Its the mental safety net.
