How can I cram for a history test tomorrow? I totally forgot about it until right now. I can stay up all night, but what are some ways to cram well?

The environment that you're in is important. Don't try to cram on a comfy couch or in bed. If possible go somewhere. IHOP always worked for me because there is music going, but late at night their aren't too many distractions and you can get all the caffeine you want.

Many people suggest you only skim and try to take in the most important information. I was a history major and I found this to be incredibly false. Read in as much detail as time constraints allow. I am only able to integrate a piece of historical information into memory if I am able to put that piece into context. Plus you never know when that little side note you want to skip will be the perfect illustration you need for the test.

Try to take in at least 1 or 2 hours of sleep and tommorow morning, go about your normal morning routine. To quote one of my favorite books "The Bourne Identity" by Robert Ludlum, "sleep is a weapon."

No matter how much material you have to cover, don't get frantic. Stay focused on learning the material in front of you as well as you can for as long as you can before you give in the urge to start just shuffling papers in front of your eyes in hopes that you'll remember what you see.

Oh, I'm an expert at cramming and I get A's and B pluses. First, make sure you have some caffeine because you have to stay up all night, also have something to munch on in hand. go through your notes, and study/read them throurougly and make sure you understand them, then take a 2 hour nap, and then get back up and studysome more.

yes! i do this all the time, when your are "cramming", whatever vocab words or key terms you need to know, look at the word, break it down and associate it with something that will stand out in your mind. compare the word and meaning to something you would be able to remember.

example: if i were you:

Social Status: achieved position in a social setting....

i would think to myself "two S's means "social setting" i would associate the two S's with the S's in the definition...
I hope this helps...its hard to explain... :)
