Jihad, crusades, and extremists have slaughtered needlessly. Why do people put beliefs over the value of human life? God, Religion, or whatever has had the universal message to love thy brother. So why is it that throughout history we persistantly seem to look down on people with different beliefs, and why do people choose to fight and murder rather than compromise and love one another? If 2 completely different people can claim themselves as muslims, then how come they choose a particular flavor and want to destroy everything else? Why can't these people see that this is how the world will eventually end?

Good question, I think it depends a lot on their, religious up bringing more than their religion, even though Islam is known to be a radical religion, their are many Islamic people, that want to live in peace with the rest of the world, however the other fractions believe in ruling by the sword, rather than living in peace with the rest of the world. Your probably right about the world ending in bloodshed and ruin, if people don't wake up, and work harder on peace , than war and power.Love is stronger than hate,it's just that some religions work harder on one, than the other, I think the absents of love, is the cause of wars killing and just plain bad behavior .

One of the main reasons is that religion is such a ripe tool for gaining and promulgating power. For most in the world, religion defines personhood---something that is somewhat difficult to understand in the secularized West. Because of the all-pervasive nature of religion in people's lives, it is very easy to use--and abuse--it as a political tool dressed up in zeal for the divine.

One of the assumptions of the secularization of the West (following in the wake of the horrific 30 Years war) several hundred years ago was that the separation of the political power and religious practice would help to stem the persecutions which you have mentioned. However, the unfortunate byproduct of such an approach is the virtual de-religiousizing of the West to such an extent that the intricacies of the the balances of power and faith which continue to tear peoples apart around the world are nearly completely lost upon us.

Because they want to prove that their god is almighty and that they are being brave by following their god's order to destroy those against them and who do not follow their religion. In this way, they will ascend to heaven when they die. It is a good cause to them. Somehow, it is not the uneducated people who think and was misleaded these ways but the rich and educated too.

They want the world to end in violence and bloodshed. Only then will they feel that their mission is accomplished. It is a sad thing and as long as they do not straighten out their thinking, there will never be peace in this world.

It's a mistake to think that every Moslem are like this. I'm Moslem too, and I hate the war, killing, hatered and... . And ofcourse I didn't born a Moslem, I didn't choose this religion. I think every religion is just for learning us to love each other, but some people use it as a weapon.
Anyway, this case is not only among Moslems. See Americans who are in Iraq, they are christians and they have killed many innocent people. what's your idea about it? Or remember Vietnam war? or Hiroshima tragedy?
It's unfair to limit it to Moslems

I hope that you notice the religions that do become the basis of violence all have their origins in the Middle East. Now observe how religions from no other place have been the cause of such death, blood-shed, and extremist behavior and attitudes. Hindu, Buddhist, Shinto, these have almost never been the sole reason for violence.

Lets see, a five minute speech to the moronic masses that they will go straight to paradise if they do as you, gods spokesperson, says. Versus having to convince them of more baser reasons.

How to choose, how to choose.
