I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. I am a senior in high school and last year my parents pressured me into getting a job so I would have extra cash so when my band toured in Europe I could have some cash in case of an emergency. Now I am in the last semester of my senior year and my mom is now telling me that I need to ask for less hours because she thinks it is effecting my grades. (I still have straight A's) My dad is indiffrent but won't get my mom to leave me be. Any suggestions?

Tell her when she proves it to you that your grades are slipping that you will ask for less hours. Your a man now, not a child and I think youve proved you can handle this. Dont show disrespect to her but make her prove it to you.

Since you are getting straight A's, maybe your mom is concerned about something else. Talk to her and ask her if there is something else she is worried about. As you finish your Senior year your mom is probably realizing your time at home is coming to an end, and wants you around more.

The same thing happened to my husband when he was in high school. His mom made him get a job to pay for all of his school expenses. Then she tried to get him to quit, but didn't offer to pay for anything. As long as your grades are good you're fine.

I'm sure she only wants you to stay on top of it all for a good and bright future for future's sake. She may not realize how stressful it is for you so the best way for her to know is to be honest with her and try to work things out in a win-win situation. Goodluck and Best wishes.

You have earned to right to enjoy your senior year. For every "A" you earned mom and dad should have put $100.00 in your emergency fund.I don't think you should have to get a job. Maintaining excellent grades now that's a job!
