I truly believe my kitty is capable of love. When I come home from work, she greets me at the door, meows all about her day (I assume napping and preening, and maybe watching birds out the window), demands vocally that I follow her into the bedroom, where she jumps on the bed, purrs loudly, and demands to be scratched and petted for at least five minutes, while she sticks her tail in my face, and wipes her kitty-snot on my arm! It has nothing to do with food and shelter, she genuinely needs and wants affection. Of course, all on her terms, and when she's done, she's done, and it's time for a nap.

Cats have many different personalities, but i think all pets have unconditional love, but you will get the bad seeds every once in a while. They are living things and need food and shelter. They just know how to put the guilt trip on you, which is why they might rub up against you when they want food! But they do want love. My old roomates cat would rub up on me every morning at 6 am! She is very affectionate.

I have two cats and they show love but just in a different way than a dog or other animals. We take animals and make them our pets, so therefore they become totally dependent on us for food and shelter, they would have no idea what so ever on how to use someone. They are not human so they can not think like we do.

You should make this decision on your own. What ever you feel your kitty feels. My cats know when I need some extra lovin and they always try to make me feel better when I feel Sad or depressed.

So I would like to think they do love me !!!

Even if they are just using me for food !

I know that my cat loves me, and not just the fact that I feed her. My husband takes care of her, too, but it is me she always comes to when she wants to be loved. It's me whom she follows around, and it's to me she comes running when she's scared. When I am upset and cry about something, she comes and rubs against me and purrs. She's the sweetest cat in the world.

I have had my cat for over ten years now and I still don't know. He likes to cuddle in bed with me, but probably to stay warm. Who knows? Cats are mysterious. They will always keep you wondering.
