If you can get a direct flight, 8 hours 43 minutes depending on winds, aircraft weight and type. It's 3,903 statute miles. You can get any flight time or distance estimates at: http://www.jets.com/ between any Worldwide airports.

The total flight time depends on which airlines he is flying. The schedule non-stop flight from Amsterdam (AMS) to Washinton Dulles airport (IAD) is between 8 hours and 30 minutes to 8 hours and 50 minutes.

United Airlines flight UA 947 departs Amsterdam (AMS) at 12:30 and arrives in Washington Dulles airport (IAD) at 15:00 for a total schedule flight time of 8 hours and 30 minutes. I chose Washington Dulles as the closest international airport to Virginia with flights from Amsterdam.

KLM flight 651 departs AMS at 12:55 and arrives in IAD at 15:45 for a total flight time fo 8 hours and 50 minutes. All departure and arrival times are local. Both of these flights operates everyday of the week.

Of course, the actual flight time will depend on the winds, speed of the aircraft and the actual route the aircraft flies. However, with the flight heading west and going against the jetstream, the aircraft may take a little longer than published schedule. Also, you'll have to add additional time traveling from Washington Dulles airport to your home.

Depends on whether or not he has to change planes. Without a layover, it takes about 6 hours to fly from the DC area to London. Amsterdam is about an hour flight from London, I believe. So without layovers, you are probably looking at 7 hours approx.

If he could give you his airline and flight number(s), you could check the airline's website to not only see how long the flight takes, but also check to see if it is on time.

I think it's about 6 hours. Of course he could always have a layover in NY or whatever city he is flying through for customs. Sorry you couldn't go with him. I think you would have enjoyed it.
