Get a financial planner and put the money away in a savings account for a month. Budget everything, from what I want to how much to invest to keep the cash flow coming.
I read an article in Maxim a few years back on how it messed up people's lives after winning the jackpot. Ex-spouses comes back to either woo or sue for the money (don't ask me how that works), suicides, OD's, people coming back into your life who wants money which results in the "winner" going into a hole to stay away from them...it really paints a grim picture.

After the shock, I'd want to get to the state's lottery commission ASAP. I'd most likely buy expensive electronics first. Just for the sheer joy of being able to get them (HD plasma TV, an expensive gaming laptop or desktop from Alienware, etc). Depending on how much the winnings would be, I'd have a close female friend of mine consult with me on paying back my past credit card debt, loans, and future plans of buying a condo for both of us in the inner city.

Assuming it was the obscenly huge amount of money I would pray for; I would run screaming into the streets laughing hysterically.
Second, I would find all the people who said i was wasting money buying a ticket every week, and laugh in their faces until my throat gave out.

the first thing I will do is to pay off any credit card or mortgage debts that I have and then use the remaining money to invest on something else, such as buy a new card, start small business. etc.
